i take everything the obstetrics world has to say with a grain of salt. When i had my dd, she had the cord wrapped around her neck 3 times, she was fine but they put her in the NICU for irregular breathing. they told me i couldn't breastfeed because she couldn't have anything in her mouth - that would make her breathing more difficult. but they were regularly feeding her with a bottle!! long story, but i almost brought charges against the hospital, i would ask for them to call me when she was due for a feeding but they wouldn't -- i'd wind up showing up to breastfeed her and they'd just given her a bottle -- against my direct order. they were just so against my plight to breastfeed her. it was absolutely sickening. i wound up just telling them i'm taking her home regardless of whether they were discharging her.
then with my son.. i was not taking any chances. he was not leaving my sight for any reason, not even with my husband. we have video (even delivering with a midwife) of them asking less than a minute after he came out whether he'd be circumcised. the whole thing makes me sick.
