How to make liquid soap?

Thread Starter
Ive been wanting to make our own soap for sometime but I always get overwhelmed when I look at directions, with tracing, and castile soap, what are these things & lye! And where in the world do you find them? I think I remember reading that castile soap was from france, so can that be replaced with a different type of solid soap? Say that I can buy locally?

Is there an easy, lets say kid friendly soap making process out there? Where I dont risk a huge disaster? & the list of ingried's isnt more then I have in my dinner recipe.

Thanks!

*Disclaimer: my children would not be helping in this process, just want to keep it simple.
