sewing elastic in between layers

Does anyone have any tips on how to sew elastic in between layers of fabric? Is there any special trick to it or is it just practice, practice, practice?

I do about an inch at a time, adjusting the top layer into the right place as I go. I've always found that if you can keep the elastic centered in front of the pressure foot and the raw edge of the fabric lined up with your seam allowance markings you can pretty much get it in there perfectly. I do this much better on the back wasit than the legs, of course

Yes, it's the legs that are giving me trouble!

try basting the layers together a little farther in than where you want the elastic to go. That stops it from going in too far.
