are you crafting for Easter or Spring Celebrations?

if so, what are you making?
This year I am teaching bean briefly what people do to celebrate in the spring in 8 different religions/cultures.

It is a lot of fun for us (maybe more so for me!)

I love to get crafty ideas!

In the past we have make felt finger puppets and felt purses for Easter baskets as well as little treasure bags and such.

So far this year she has drawn pictures of the celebration of Holi (as she can imagine it), sewn a felt bunny purse, and made chinese laterns. That is it so far, although we will continue on throughout the next month making flower decorations, planting and growing seeds...

I'm looking for more ideas!

I am working on making bendy fairies (but I need hair help, see post in toys and dolls) and felt bunnies. I plan to plant wheat grass in a large flat basket I have and add the toys. It is not really a tradition as much as I want to celebrate the renewal and nature in springtime. I would like to add to this each year, a la nature table.

I would also like to make those eggs filled with confetti or small toys. You blow out the contents, wash, dry, fill and cover with tissue paper. I haven't had much luck convincing my egg using cooks to blow out the eggs, though, so no headway there.

I'm planning an egg hunt for the kids in my life so I'm working on invitations (I'm thinking of egg-shaped card stock, colored by my son and then with the info printed in by me), a centerpiece (egg tree with blown out and died eggs), and menu (carrot cake, egg shaped cookies, bruschetta, veggies and hummus and maybe something else).

I ordered some little toys and things to stuff the plastic eggs but I'm also making little bean bags to go in some, as well as scrolls with "egg" theme jokes (lifted from an Easter activity book I got from the library) and tied with a ribbon. I might do some homemade play clay, too, if I can figure out a way to keep it fresh inside the egg.

I also have some fabric for doing a spring-themed quilted table runner, but I doubt I'll get to it.

chalupamom I want to come to your house to celebrate! That sounds lovely

Kari mom, everytime I see your name in a post I think of a friend of mine with the same name. She was teh one who opened my mind to natural family living and attached parenting. She opened a door that let in a wonderful flood of what is now our way of life

So every time I see you post it makes me think of her and smile

If we ever have another girl we'll name her Kari!

So I'm off topic!
lalalala dee da!

Awe, LaLa, that is such a nice story! I love the name Kari too, though I must confess it isn't my real name, just a psuedo pulled from my email address. I thought about using it for my daughter, but my sister had just named her daughter Carrie after my grandmother and it seemed too similar. I hope you do have a Kari someday.

There is a pattern in Sewing Tiny Toys by Carolyn Vosburg Hall. There are a ton of patterns in this book, I found it at the library. Not only does she have full-size patterns for lots of animals, she also has sections that talk about how to sew small creatures and how to draft your own patterns. Really a satisfying book. I found my copy at the library, but I know it is on Amazon as well.

sorta Easter related...

I just dyed some yarn with easter egg colors and now I'm trying to decide what it wants to be. I'm thinking ribby wrap for Kacie.

I totally spring colors!

Well, since I will have an over abundance of eggs, I'm going to teach the kids how to dye eggs naturally, like with onion skins, beets ect.
