On the subject of the definition of "retract"

Jhonen is only 9 months, and while he isn't retractile he loves to pull on his foreskin (both away from his body and up towards his body). So if retracting by definition is pulling of the foreskin backwards, then he is doing that a bit on his own. He seems to really enjoy that action and since the idea of him pulling it back farther than he should kind of makes me a bit edgy, I usually discourage the pulling backwards (typically by fastening up his diaper when he starts going in that direction or saying "clap your hands" because he simply cannot resist clapping his hands when told to do so).

I suppose I should just let him do what he wants, because he isn't going to do anything that hurts and if it does hurt he will stop, right?

OH YES...some of you may remember my frantic post back in January about DS#2 having a sudden red ouchy foreskin? I think I have figured it out...I think he has developed a contact allergy to certain soaps. If he bathes with the offending soap, he has to retract and rinse with fresh clean water or he will swell up and get red and sore.

You're absolutely right about Jhonen and glad to hear you've figured out the problem with DS#2. I've never had the problem but I've heard of men who get irritated if they forget to rinse.
