5 y/o won't eat my cooking

She'll eat the "meat and potato" fare at her sitters, if I make meat and potatoes she'll eat, but I try not to have meat more then once or twice a week, I make "moosewoody" fare the rest of the time, not complex, veggies and rice or pasta, seasoned moderately. She'll eat the rice or the pasta, not the veggies. I suspect it's a power play, she's been known to eat this stuff when my m-i-l or Dh makes it. Our house is too intimate to try and trick her into thinking Dh cooked it, besides I need to short circut the power play anyhow. Help?

If this needs to be moved so be it and I am sorry:

I would do the same thing as I would with a toddler. Continue to offer a variety of healthy foods & allow her to eat however much she wants. I would not make special separate meals for her, or draw any attention to how much she does or does not eat. That way you don't allow it to become a power struggle. Sort of the "this is dinner, if you're hungry you'll eat it & if not, you won't" approach. I wouldn't think it would last too long.

do you think this would help????

Do you think if you let your 5 y/o help you make dinner that she would find it more appealing because she cooked it herself?????:

Maybe she would just fall in love with her own cooking

just an idea... melanie
