Week of Feb. 28 - March 7 - Page 2

hevea - so sorry that your last week is turning into medical monitoring mania. those constant appointments and discussions of if, what, and how do sound like a drag. i'm hoping that your natural starters will start him/her up!! good luck!

Hey mams, how are you all doing?

Christine, the list looks fabulous. Thanks so much!
I sincerely hope that everything works out for you, and that you have the birth that you want. That sounds like a great idea to hopefully buy you a couple of extra days.

To all those with sick babies, hope they get better soon. Ella has a wicked cough which is really scary , especially when she coughs in Lilah's face. Yuck!! I am so paranoid about germs it's not funny, especially with a 10 day old in the house too.

Ok, can't remember any of the other posts at all. Where did my brain go? Take care xxxJasmine

Monica...
yeah... the hospital did alchohol on dominic's stump and the midwife said the best course of action was to continue in one fashion (the mw's use goldenseal)... BUT she also said that not having lots of air on it (ie, my cds and covers that covered it could've been keeping it moist, ditto on the onsies) probably was what was keeping it on. SO... i'm hoping it falls off soon. like in a few days. i really want to give dominic his first bath here soon. very soon. Am thinking we'll make it a family affair in the bathtub.

Christine - i hope everyone goes for the plan to give you a few more days....

heve- Hang in there....I hope even with your appts. you are able to enjoy a last peaceful few days/week.

I sure hope Amber is in labor too!!!

I can't believe our baby will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. But then again, I can't remember life without him either. I could just kiss his face all day......

I've updated Hazel's website with some pictures of her, including one where she's wearing her new wool soaker that I bough on Ebay. Check it out!

Morning all. Sending good labor vibes out to all that haven't got to meet their little ones yet! My little on isn't so little anymore, he is over 10 lbs! DS1 wasn't 10 lbs until he was almost 3 1/2 months old, so I don't know what to make of this! I would be happier if I was making him grow like that, he only grew to 7 lbs in me and my milk didn't work so the formula is agreeing with him I guess I can be happy with that!

Everybody have a good day!

oh my goodness, Lesley! How scrumptious she is in that soaker! My voice went up an octave, cooing over those photos! I think she looks a lot like Mel.

um, nope, didn't go into labour last night... Today Shannon is coming over, and we're going out for lunch. Haven't heard of any labour-inducing meals around here, but it will be a nice outing - for both of us, I hope! Then this afternoon, I see my acupuncturist. Hope her treatment is potent enough to send me into labour...!! Dh and I had a long chat with my mw yesterday, on speakerphone...we're on the same page, going into our OB consult tomorrow, and she found out for us that the OB on call tomorrow is the one that I've heard great things about. A very reasonable, flexible guy. He even teaches FAM, so I'll be sure to bring in my charts, in case that gives us any wiggle room of a few days. I'd like to at least hold off on scheduling a hospital induction until Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks again for the labour and peace vibes - it means a lot!

Thinking of Amber today...hope the silence means you're busy... !! Peaceful, empowering, joyous labour and birth vibes to you~~~!!!

Hello everyone! thought i'd check in even though ihaven't posted in forever. not sure if anyone remembers me LOL!!!

i ended up perpetually sick from thanksgiving until i gave birth and ended up cracking a rib or something a week before i gave birth. those last few weesk were truly a nightmare.

that said, i was induced at 35 weeks due to rapidly rising bp and low amniotic fluid. i also had undetected gd. i was really falling apart. i was very sad and angry to not have a drug free childbirth but i just couldn't handle the pit contractions.

mia paige was born on 1/13 at 11:31 a.m. weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces. she got jaundice and i got spinal headaches and pulled muscles in my back and neck so i spent 2 weeks flat on my back after she was born. but we're both quite healthy and mia had no problems with her lungs or other functions other than the jaundice that was treated with bili lights. i can't believe she's 7 weeks tomorrow!

shannon, i've read bits here and there when i could keep up and my thoughts are with you. you've been through SO much, it's time for a break so you can just enjoy that little bundle.

to everyone still wiating -- : i hope your bundles come soon and you have the birth of your dreams!!!

hope to see everyone on the other boards. even though i didn't post i did try to read and keep up with all the feb. moms. i'm still amazed mia arrived in january!

hugs to everyone!

Hi Denise, I've wondered how you've been doing!! Congrats on Mia, sorry it was so rough though, wow, she was a good weight for 35 weeks!!!!
Well folks, as Christine said, I"m heading out there for lunch so I guess I should get a move on and get myself showered! Or, perhaps the smell of a sleep deprived mama would kick start her labor????

Try using a blow dryer on LOW heat with your hand on the tummy to make sur it is not too hot and dry it out a few times a day. Don't forget to pull up on it and bend it to get in the base. Hope you are back in cloth soon.

Hooray, the cord fell off Dominic has an Innie.
So tomorrow Dominic gets his first home bath... any suggestions from btdt moms? I was thinking of a family tub bath... but would the sink be easier?
mia had her first bath in the sink but i found it incredibly difficult. perhaps it was just the first bath of a newborn that freaked me out but she was so slippery and the angle seemed awkward.

i think a family bath is a wonderful idea and would probably be easier if you can hand the baby off when the bath is done. i went out and bought a baby bathtub and that's not bad. perhaps one day she'll even like her bath LOL

thanks shannon and heve! i really wasn't sure anyoen would remember me she was a good size. the doc. called the nicu down just in case and they were like why are we here :LOL thankfully she was completely healthy.

are you in labor yet hevesoul? i'll have to check every day now! sending labor vibes

end of the evening check-in....nope, not in labour.

I had lunch with Shannon and Molly today - a very nice perk to my week! It did start out a bit rocky - Shannon's truck got stuck in an unplowed parking lot...nothing like a 41 week, 3 day preggo lady and recovering cesarian mama with a 5-week old having to push a truck! Thankfully, we got a guy to help us, so neither of us pushed the truck...whew! So then we went on to have a lovely lunch - Molly, too!

I had my acupuncture today. It was wild how my body reacted - my belly got really hot - I had my palms resting on my belly, and there was sweat drippping down my sides! Baby was really active, too. Some of the points really hurt (not in a "needle is in the wrong way" hurt), and she was happy with how responsive my body was being. So, we shall see...nothing yet. I go back Friday. Tomorrow is my bpp, NST and OB consult.

hooray for Dominic's innie! cutie pie!

I'll keep you posted... :

Joy, while we've never done a family bath--small tub--I find Molly is so much easier to bath when I get in the tub with her, she actually seems to enjoy it, whereas sink or baby tub, she hated both.
Btw, my prenatal classes and my hospital said there are a whack of new studies that show there is absolutely no difference in time for cord to fall off when it's kept dry vs baby being bathed and such, they told us to just leave it, not put anything on it at all and Molly's fell off at 6 days, just figured I'd throw it out there.

Heve and I had an adventure, got my truck stuck in the parking lot of the restaurant we went to (have I mentioned I hate this new truck??) but lunch was awesome and we even indulged in very yummy desert. I probably should have made her push my truck out of the snow--that would have got labor going! :
Heve and I crossposted, sorry for the double truck in the snow story

Yay on the stump falling off!

Autumn's fell off when she was 4 days old. In fact we took her to the pediatrician's for her first after birth check up and when I undressed her it was gone!!! I looked on the floor and it was just laying there. :LOL We didn't use alchohol and I think that was key on getting it to dry out completely. Her first bath was in the sink with just water.

Heve glad you got out to lunch with the ladies Hope that acupuncture kick starts your labor!

MY BABY IS FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Proud to announce the arrival of my baby girl!! She joined us last night (March 1) somewhere around 8:20pm. I had her at home! Labor was great, delivery wasn't so great... Her shoulders got very very very stuck and she ended up with a broken arm as the midwife had to reach up and pull her out. She is doing well for now... I will post more later. Just wanted to make my announcement..

Baby Girl No Name
10 lbs!!!!!
21 inches
Head 14 3/4 in.
And ohhhhhh sooooooo cute!!!
Amber!! big congrats, Heve and I were talking about you today at lunch figuring you must have a little one by now
Sorry about her arm--OUCH!!! What did that end up doing to you??? Did they have to cast her or is alright with a splint??
Give her an extra little kiss from Molly and I (Molly who is significantly smaller at 5 wks than your lil one is at one day )
