period-like cramps going on....

...that are freaking me out. This is my fith pregnancy. I remember mild cramping that would come and go, but these cramps are just like heavy period cramps and have lasted ALL day long! I don't have any bleeding or spotting or anything, but it is still freaking me out!! This was not a planned pregnancy, but I am very much attatched to it!! Anyone else experiencing this or know about this? I think I am about 7 weeks along (don't remember when I had my last period, exactly). I want to make a midwife appointment, but there is a TON of paperwork involved (it is a low-cost clinic) and I don't know if I want to go to all the trouble because we are moving in a few weeks so I wasn't even planning on going through the hassle until after we moved, but the cramping is worrying me!

editted to add: could this be a urinary tract infection? I don't have any other symptoms of one....

I had some period-like cramping in my 7th week as well...I was totally freaked out and went to my doctor. He said it was normal and that it's just my uterus stretching out.

I believed him. And I'm fine. And so is the baby.

I'd still go to the doctor if I were you.
Sometimes I still get them that bad, but they are pretty brief. Like...10 minutes at a time. Not all day.

Hi! I have had period like cramps on and off. When I saw the doctor to confirm that I'm pregnant I asked her about it. She told me period like cramps are completely normal and I should only be conserned if I have bad cramps only on one side or if I have cramps with spotting. I would probably see the doctor if they were really bad though.

Have you had urinary tract infectios before? I've never had one, but I've been drinking a little 100% cranberry juice almost every day. Could you maybe call the doctor first and see if s/he wants you to come in??
Hope you fell better soon!!! :

thanks, guys, for the responses. The cramps are totally gone today, so I apparently stayed up most of the night worrying for no reason! If it happens again, I will probably go to the mw. It wasn't like total pain or anything more than discomfort, but it still freaked me out.

I have had this too. Today at work, I just kept *knowing* there would be blood when I checked next and the cramping was so period like.... but everything was fine.

so happy I'm not the only one! I guess I am only getting the cramps in the afternoon as I am having them a bit more. Still thinking about going to the mw, though.

It can't hurt to see your midwife, but I agree that the cramping is probably nothing to worry about. I had pretty substantial cramping with my first pregnancy and have had a little bit with this one, too.

I think cramps are pretty common and normal. The instinct is to worry, but it is usually fine. Especially if you do not have any bleeding!
