Congratulations Jess!!! Wow, is this our first birth? I have been so busy that I haven't been around much! I am excited that so many are getting so close!!

I am due in late April and have gone "late" both times so far, so I am not counting on much happening for a while. I did have some pre-term labor issues last week though and was dilating and everything, but managed to stop things from progressing. I also had some scary contractions the other night, so maybe this one is a little impatient. We shall see!

I am going to try and catch up with all the happenings around here

Now it is March 15th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Total nesting now- bought nursing pads, pads for lochia, started nagging DH about installing the carseats, packed my bag and the baby's bag.....

What am I forgetting?

I had a whole message and it got erased. Oh well, it was whiny anyways. It was just an update on me. THings are going pretty well. I'm nesting. My sugars aren't staying consisitant so I might have to go on insulin, which means a hospital birth. Not what I had in mind. And I'm thinking if I don't need insulin I might end up with a hospital birth anyways. I always swore after dd's birth I would never be induced again, but if it's the only alternative to a c-section I will. My baby is HUGE. I am 31 weeks and on weekly visits because of the gestational diabetes. At 30 weeks I was measuring 34 weeks. And at 31 I had lost 1 1/2 lbs that week and was measuring 37 weeks. I was doing some research and my baby is just now supposed to be around 3 lbs, well she was that 7 weeks ago, so that scares me a bit. I'm very nervous.

Hey Seren whine all you want - I would if I were you. Hopefully things will right themselves and things will be better. Are you eating every three hours? Maybe that will help.

Glad to hear others are nesting. I have been cleaning all week. I received a surprise baby shower from my family this weekend so I had plenty of clothes to wash and put away.

I am super neurotic about my closets, cabinets, drawers being neat anyways so I love this process. I have had to relax bit about it since becoming a mommy and a wifey but I still enjoy it while everything stays beautiful. So in response to nesting I have been working from room to room day by day.

It feels really gooooooood to get everything super cleaned and organized. It is also corresponding to the space~clearing and treasure map stuff that is going on in MDC's spirituality forum. I highly recommend checking out the treasure map thread. They are a tradition here on MDC for about 3 years and it is a wonderful project!!!!!!!!

hey everybody.

i'm planning a cleaning spree tomorrow. i made some turkey bacon early last week and i can't seem to get the smell out of my house! i plan to scour my kitchen. probably, it's just pregnancy nose that's able to detect the smell, but it's driving me crazy!

i posted about this on the main pregnancy board -- at my last visit the dr said that if i don't deliver by my due date (april 2) i'll be induced because of the high blood pressure. she's not necessarily talking about pitocin. in fact, she mentioned castor oil and stripping membranes and told me to start doing lots of things to get my cervix ready (like epo, dr christopher's, etc.)

since dd#1 was five days late i don't have high hopes this baby will come early, so i'm stressed about being induced which i'm sure isn't helping the blood pressure. but, i am walking every day and taking a nightly soak to relax. so, i'm doing what i can. and i'm hoping any induction date can be negotiated assuming the baby is doing well and my bp isn't skyrocketing.

oh, and our cat has fleas, so i'm getting that taken care of tomorrow. :

I'm so happy! Dh told me he's getting 10 days off postpartum. He's an independent contractor, just got bumped up to foreman, and they've been crazy-busy, so I didn't think he'd get that much time off . So I was already happy about that and he says, "I don't know what I'll do about dinner, I'm sure I'll have to keep coming back to the bedroom to ask you what to do next"!!!

(Not that he can't cook, he's just paranoid about vegetarian recipes, LOL)

SO it sounds like I'm gonna get some serious in-bed-with-baby time .

Mild cramping and backache this morning. I just feel like laying on the couch and doing nothing except that I have so much cleaning and laundry to do as well as babysitting and take ds to go ice skating and a doctor's appointment. How will I ever make it through this day!? All I know is I need a back massage ASAP and some quiet (fat chance with a 2-year-old!)

More cramping this morning and its not going away although its not really in a pattern. I guess it does peak a little. Probably false labor but thats what I though I had with ds right up until I decided to go the hospital. I transitioned in the car! OW! ANyway dh is gone all day and ds is cranky, I really hope the baby doesn't come today....

goodcents-that's inspiring nesting activity! all we've done is set up the baby's room, I don't find I have the energy for cleaning...

I have finally noticed that I've been having some bh contractions, and some cramping. Kind of just thought I'd hurt my back, but at the mw on Thursday she was feeling my belly and said, oh that's a contraction....I hadn't even noticed.

We tried setting up our birth pool last night...it went well, at least as far as inflating (took 25 min). Filling it was a different story, that took 2 hours and it wasn't hot when full, only tepid. So dw has turned up the hot water heater & we're going to try filling it. Hopefully that will go better this time. Very sleepy today from staying up late with the pool & waking up anxious about the cramps...but they seem to be gone for the most part. It's funny though, I've been thinking and guessing this baby would come late this whole time, and now it seems like it's getting more ready to come, we'll see....
hopefully it will wait until I'm on mat leave (I finish work next Thursday) and even better after we go away for Easter weekend.

THanks for the hugs Wan2bemama. I'm wondering if my cramping is actually a bladder infection. Its moved now from feeling menstrual crampy to low down near my vagina and is making me feel like I have to pee even right after I go. Its a really annoying sensation. I've never had a bladder infection before and I didn't have BHX with ds so I really don't know what I'm feeling but it won't go away. :

If it is a bladder infection and just started feeling like that today you can probably fix it yourself. I had the same thing a few weeks ago and my midwife told me to get cranberry fruit pills. Not cranberry juice, too much sugar, and the bacteria will feed off of it. I took the pills for a few days and it went away. It actually significantly improved after the first day. Might be worth a try over this weekend. My mw told me to take 4 pills a day.

That sounds like a great suggestion, Seren. I would also add just taking a bunch of vitamin C can help too, if you already have this at home, as it increases acidity in you body & will help knock out an infection.

My own bh stuff seems to have gone away again for now & I'm glad....I didn't really want to have to work 4 more days with cramps.

I forgot to mention that we have had 1 shower and 1 mother blessing, and have another shower today....lots of fun & busy! My sister organized the mother blessing for me last weekend & it was sooo lovely, everyone brought a special piece of cloth & spoke about what it meant to them & my sis will make it into a blanket. Everyone also has a yarn bracelet/anklet to wear until I give birth. I my sister! Food, flowers, and good friends! It was lovely...
Some folks from our church had a little shower for us last weekend too, which was v. sweet, and today, dw's teacher's college classmates are having one for her. Fun!

I'm taking the advice, thanks. But I just feel yucky. I'm having some pains in my kidney area so i hope its not going into a kidney infection if it is a UTI. I might end up going to the doctor to see for sure what it is but I don't want to take any antibiotics so I'm not sure what they cn really do for me. Its getting annoying though...I"m going fo a walk with dh and ds right now. Ds needs to burn some energy! I just can't handle an active 2 year old right now,poor guy.

i can't find my cervix LOL. i can always find it when i'm not preggo, and the last time i went looking for it was several months ago, and i found it right away. the past two days i have been looking for it, and it's no were to be found LOL. is that a good sign or bad sign? good meaning my cervix might be shortening? or bad, i'm just too HUGE to adequately search LOL. oh well.

i've been having cx off and on, but just when i think they are getting good, they stop. which pisses me off LOL. with my first two labors my water broke and that started my labor, so i'm not sure i would recognize labor without my water breaking. like i could have cx every ten minutes for hours but then they just stop. oh, and my water has always broken in the middle of the night. so, if this whole process starts during the day i think i won't recognize it as labor. hahahahaha

i finally got the babies clothes cleaned and hung up . i put all of the diapers on the shelf under the changing pad, but then yesterday my girlies threw them all on the floor and i just can't get down there to pick them all up just yet LOL. i FINALLY found our carseat on sunday, but it hasn't made it's way into the car just yet. and i got my notice for my kozy yesterday and paid today so hopefully that will be here before the baby . we still have no name, but i guess it will have to be named at some point so i'm not too worried about that LOL. so....................come on out anytime baby, we're ready for you

OMG! I came here to ask the same question! I was thinking maybe have dh look for it, but that seems like a silly question - "um honey, could you do me a favor . . ." :LOL

I could have written these things too:

the last couple days i've been crampy off and on. more often than the days before. of course, i know the cramps could go on for days and weeks. with dd#1 i only had them for a couple days before labor began.

i've also developed an oh-so-pleasant super-sensitive gag reflex that caused me to dry heave for about 10 minutes after brushing my teeth the other day. since then i spit more frequently while brushing which has cut down on the gagging and heaving. but, i feel nauseated off and on throughout the day. the dr says the gagging and heaving is a sign that hormones are changing. yay!

I ended up in the ER on mOnday because the pain in my right kidney area was so bad I thought for sure I had a kidney infection or stone. They could't find anything in my urine and sent me home even though I could barely walk. By evening it had suppsided and I was able to sleep for the first time in like 24 hours. I still don't know what it was. COuld have been a bruised kidney or maybe a stone. Today and yesterday my urethra feels very uncomfortable. I'm starting to lose my mucus plug too and am dialated to about 3 but I know this still could mean labor won't be here for a while. I'm ok with that as i am still trying to rest up from the painful weekend. I feel like I've already been in labor for 2 days! I'm trying to gather the strength for the real thing. Good luck to all you ladies as you prepare for the baby. My house is a MESS! Dh has been great at cleaning and washing the baby clothes because I just couldn't but ds has also been great at dismantling all the progress LOL!

I am officially nesting. Dh went camping with the scouts from church last night. I don't sleep well when he is gone. I was up until 1 cleaning. I completely cleaned my back bathroom/laundry room, folded a ton of clothes and put them away, and cleaned up all the daily stuff. I started on my room, but Sam woke up. It was itme for him to come to my bed, so light had to go off. I'm exhausted now. But I feel so good. All i have left to do is Savanna's room (it's a disaster) and my room. THen I can get started on getting baby stuff ready. *sigh* I just feel like I don't have enough time.
