How long did it take for your meds to work?

Well, after months of battling PPD and a full-blown panic attack and sleepless night last night I finally made the call and got Effexor. I just took my first dose. On the pamplet it says it could take several weeks to see results. I thought it would only be a week at most. Just curious what peoples' experiences were, esp. w/ effexor.

TIA

I was on Zoloft, and I felt a little bit of something in the first couple of days, but it took a good 2 weeks before I really felt like things were improving. I had some side effects the first week and a few days that made it hard - headaches, nausea, etc. But those went away about 2 weeks into it.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Effexor.

I would say give it up to one month to work. If you don't see any results say by three weeks, you might give your doctor a call. I know it is hard waiting when you feel lousy. Hang in there!

I am currently on effexor I started at 75mg and after 6 weeks it wasn't doing what it should have been, so now I am upt to 150mg and taking klonopin too. It has helped tremendously!!!!!
Good luck to you

Within about a week of taking Lexapro 10mg, I felt definite improvement. After about two weeks it was even more pronounced.

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies...it's been 3 days and I already feel so much better. I feel so calm and at peace, it's amazing. It's nice to just feel normal again.
