can wonderoos be dyed?

I've got a dozen coming in the mail and since there is a current shortage and all I could get a hold of (other than some colors I didn't like) was white and one butter. I'd like to get creative with the whites. Maybe dip dye or tie die. I don't have any professional dye, just kool aid. Do you think it will work? Is there any know and proven way of dying white wonderoos?

Crap. I wonder what WILL work. Maybe rit dye? Will paint stick? I really wanted them cute for summer with tee shirts. Maybe I could make shirts and add accents to the diapers with the same fabric.

maybe procion dyes, like from dharma trading? other than that I would suggest painting them.

You would have to find a dye that would work on synthetic fibers ... not sure what's available though. Fabric paints might work though (I think this is your best bet) ...or you can send them to someone to be embroidered.

I just can't imagine the painting would be cute. Any examples of this? I wonder what kind of paint would be permanent. Like puff paint or acrylic with fabric medium? Could I do an iron or transfer?

I don't know how well puff paint or other fabric paints would hold up to diaper washing. Usually I wash my painted items on delicate and line dry.

Machine embroidery for sure ... using poly thread ... back the embroidery with antoher piece of PUL

Bummer. But I bet embroidering on a separate piece of fabric and then stitching it on would work?

i tried iron on. it worked and did not affect the pul. i tried it on a scrap piece first tho

It didn't melt it. I used a lower heat. It doubt it was any hotter than the fryer would be. Now, I don't put diapers in the dryer but the wonderoos site says they can be put in the dryer. PUL is after all meant to withstand autoclaving. I don't have a pic but I wish I did. The only diaper i've done thus far turned out super cute. I had to be willing to trash a 15 dollar diaper if it didn't work but it worked just great.

Have you washed it a bunch of times? Whenever I've fused, I've gone around the edges with satin stitch or blanket stitch or something. Does it get ratty around the edges with repeated washing? Is it really hard and stiff where the fusing stuff is?

I've only washed it once so far. Do I need to do something to make sure it doesn't start peeling? I didn't figure it would last forever but it's easy to peel off and leaves on damage to the diaper. I messed up once and peeled the whole transfer off with no problem. It seems to stay put pretty well.
