needle felting?

does anyone do needle felting and can reccomend a good book or website for a beginner? I would like to make ds some felted balls with pictures on them among other things like nature table dolls. I just bought the book Feltcrafting but it doesn't really have anything about needle felting.

I haven't read any yet, but this is the one I plan on getting first: http://www.fiberfanatics.com/book.html

Here are directions for a ladybug...I think you could figure out a ball or egg from this.Mielkes Farm ladybug directions

Mielkes Farm also sells books and supplies (needles, roving) for needlefelting. I got their Felter's Bag of Candy -- nice stuff.

ETA: I think they might have directions for making small dolls on the site, too.

I haven't ever read a book about Needle Felting yet, I just bought some needles, a foamy, some fleece, and went for it, it is fairly intuitive. But I think Ayala Talapai's books look good, seconding the suggestion above. Have fun! It is very compelling once started!

I just started needle felting the day before yesterday and have been looking for good web resources as well. I haven't found anything yet that I really like, but I went ahead and just started anyhow. I am really happy with what I have made so far - 3 root children (super easy - felted round head with hair, felted found brown body) and a small duck, a larger Father Winter/Snow King doll and then last night I ventured into St. Patrick's Day and made a pot of gold and a little leprechaun. I say just go for it and start playing with the wool and needle - I'm sure youll come up with something great!

So what kind of wool do you use? Is it spun into thread like knitting wool or is it less processed?

Less processed. Roving.
