Thread Starter
I was just reading the insert that came with the sample pack of Zoloft and according to it I suffer from everything under the sun. I have only listed the things that pertain to me....in reality i only skipped a VERY few things they have listed. Does this mean i am falling apart? Because i fit into so many catagories does it mean that nothing is going to work????

Depression:
loss of interest or pleasure in doing things
changes in sleep patern
slow movements
loss of energy or feeling tired all the time
changes in appetite or weight (beyond normal pregnancy stuff)
feeling worthless or guilty for no real reason
trouble focusing or making decisions

Panic Disorder:
pounding heart or fast heart rate
sweating
trembling or shaking
nausea or stomach pain
fear of losing control or "going crazy"
chills or hot flashes

OCD:
fear of making mistakes
fear of doing something embarassing in public
need for order or to have things :just right"

PTSD: (the "event" being my sons birth)
group 1:
frequent, sudden and upsetting memories about the event, including certain images and thoughts
frequent and distressing dreams about the event
acting or feeling as if the tramatic event were happening again
strong mental or emotional pain when seeing people, places or reminders of the event
physical reactions when seeing people, places or other reminders of the event

group 2:
trying not to have thoughts, feelings, or conversations about the event
trying to avoid activities, places or people that are reminders of the event
not being able to remember important details about the event
no longer enjoying or taking part in activities you once enjoyed
feeling detached or isolated from family or friends
having feelings of emotional numbness that others may notice

group 3:
problems falling asleep or staying asleep
angry outbursts or being irritable
problems concentrating
feeling overly alert
being overly startled

I have most of that stuff too, except for the PTSD. That's weird to read about the chills and hot flashes, cause I noticed I always got those during a panic attack. I always thought the thermostat was screwed up just coincidentally at the same time as my attacks. Don't worry, I bet the meds will work. IMO, just one chemical imbalance can cause a cascade of problems and symptoms. Look at it this way, if someone has a virus, they can get 10 different symptoms from it. It doesn't mean there are 10 viruses, ya know? I don't think you're falling apart. I've heard of cases (in my family) that are way worse that were helped. It's just a matter of finding the right meds and dosage. Hope you feel better!

p.s. I did the same thing when I was reading the insert to my sample Effexor.

Take the Zoloft and see what happens in a few weeks. I could have listed pages of the things that I had when I was diagnosed with depression the first time two years ago. The meds were amazing for me. I'm starting down that same road again and I decided two weeks ago to go back on meds again. The fatigue is rough, but it should only last another week or two hopefully.

I'm guessing that you will have good luck with the meds. Sometimes it can take a time or two to find the right med for you, but they are designed to help all those symptoms that you list.
