ok just a couple more lol

When making AIO's can you use the pul as the outer layer? What about using the pul as a middle layer with a knit as the outer?

Is it worth it to buy a pattern? What pattern is best? if you buy a pattern does that mean if you make that diaper you can sell it as that diaper?

When making aio's whats the best material to touch baby?
Think thats it for now :LOL
Thanks!

- Yes to both, plus wovens as outer. But if you have the outer layer roll in at the legs you may get wicking from the knits or wovens.

- I think it was worth it because I got lots of diaper-making tips that I wouldn't have figured out myself.
- I have the VB AIO pattern and just got Cuddlebuns, but haven't had time to make any. I also drafted one with Erin Kortering's SnS (scroll down)
- I don't know about selling the diaper as that diaper though. The Cuddlebuns pattern came with some CB labels, but I think there was some guideline about only using it on diapers made from the CB pattern in the CB way, or something. Like I said, I just got it.

- That's a matter of personal preference. I like fleece for now because it keeps ds dry, and poo doesn't stick- most of the time! But I don't know what I'll use this summer, I don't want the fleece to make him hot.

Sorry for
HTH!

ETA- I'm pretty sure that VB, CB, Honeyboy, and all the other registered patterns would require you to have a cottage license before you could use their name to sell a diaper made with their pattern. I also think that if you trace a WAHM's diaper and try use her name to sell the diaper that she'd probably ask you to stop pretty quickly! (and rightly so )

PUL as the outer is fine or sandwiched is also fine. If you want to use it overnight or longer periods omit the outer decorative layer and stick with just solid PUL. Print PULs are often prone to wicking.

It depends on you. I love to buy patterns from different WAHMs-I feel like you learn a lot and its just fun to sew other peoples patterns sometimes. It can also save you a lot of grief of trying to draft your own. Though that can be fun too. So, like I said-it depends on you. I have the VB AIO pattern, which a lot of people seem to like. You can also just buy a pattern for a fitted diaper and use a PUL outer.

If you buy the pattern and the cottage industry liscence then you can sell it. Some liscencers also have stipulations, like you have to send in a sample of your sewing to get liscenced.

Again, it depends on your preference. Microfleece keeps booties drier and makes clean up easier sometimes. Its also super soft. Suedecloth works much the same as microfleece but resists pilling a little better. Some people have a thing about synthetics next to baby's skin though and opt for a more "natural" fiber, i.e. hemp or cotton. Ask yourself what you would want on your skin!
