is this normal?

I started taking Zoloft on the 3rd. I have taken 2 pills. 25mg each. Is it common to already feel a bit better? I seem to be calmer already. My midwife has me on 25mg for a week..then up to 50mg for 2 weeks and then if i need to we will up the dose again.

Maybe i am feeling better because the zoloft knocks me out and i am able to actually sleep again. The past couple weeks i haven't been able to get my brain to shut down enough to get any real sleep. My sleep pattern is still very wonky though. I am only able to sleep for about 3-4 hours and then i am up for 8-12 hours. Seems i generally sleep from about 6pm till 9-11pm and then i am up again until around 5am and then i sleep until around 10am.

In my case; the Zoloft started working almost right away. I admit that I was so desperate that I took my first dose at 5 PM & second dose at 8 AM. It was the first decent sleep I had gotten in 6 months!

My doc also started me on 25 mg, then increased it to 50 mg after a week.

I see that you are about 2 months away from your due date. i just wanted to mention that I have taken Zoloft through two pregnancies & afterwards. My babies are healthy and vibrant (weighed 9-0 & 9-4).

In retrospect; I wish that I could have taken Zoloft during my first two pregnancies. I could have been spared feeling as if I were going out of my mind.

I, also, was just put on Zoloft. I started mine on Monday and took my first pill at about noon. Maybe it was just the knowledge that I was getting help, but I was feeling more "me" by that night. Today was my third 25mg pill. It doesn't have the sleeping effect with me and that is a good thing. I become a hypersomniac when depressed.

My doctor's family has had large success with Zoloft, including her son and mother.

I go back to the doctor on the 21st to see how it is working and to talk about counceling options.
