Seattle Area Playgroup?

I have noticed comments in other Waldorf threads about starting/finding a Waldorf - inspired playgroup. Unfortunately none of the posters have their true location indicated in their user profiles, so I can't tell if any are from this area (Seattle).

I would be interested in starting a playgroup here, preferably with some help, maybe coop style. (As far as I know none exist locally, but if you know of one, please let me know.)

My sister teaches Waldorf on the east coast, so I can get input from her for appropriate activities.

If anyone else is interested, please contact me or post here. Let's see if we can work something out.

Have you contacted the local Waldorf schools to see if they know of any?

Yes I have asked around and the local schools (in Seattle, not 'burbs) say they know of no groups.

The parent-tot programs are full, and the Friday morning sessions conflict with another activity we have that is also important to us. Seattle Waldorf said they might add another P-T class and then decided against it.

Rhonwyn, would love to hear your opinions on the 2 Seattle schools...I have noticed from other threads that you are informed on the subject. If we can afford it, Waldorf will be our first choice for our DS's education.

I figured I would post here first (rather than tribal forum) because I would prefer to get people who are actively searching for Waldorf information and seriously considering it for their families, but if this doesn't get very far then will post there too.

I like both of the Seattle schools and I would send my children to either of them. We ended up at Seattle Waldorf because it is easier to get to for us. Also, Bright Water at the time was talking of moving further south, which they may still do when their lease runs out at the old Cornish school on Capital Hill.

I would send a note to each school and ask them to put something in their newsletter. They have a section at the back for parent and community notices. Write something up about wanting to form an informal Waldorf playgroup with like minded parents and see where it goes. There are lots of people with young children in the school who don't want to do the Parent Tot program for one reason or another but they may be looking for a way to connect to other families with young children.
