flea problem!

urgh!! i'm so sick of fleas, i'm considering calling teminix.
we have one cat and use advantage on him, but it seems the fleas get off him and onto us/bed/rug/couch. i can't take it anymore. today i've found two fleas on dd. it's just disgusting!

anyone have any experience getting rid of them without having to resort to the nasty chemical desinfection?

My mom used to put small dishes of vinegar in the corners of the rooms and the fleas were somehow attracted to it, would jump in and drown.
