neighbor just sprayed pesticides

This is a rant:

I am so angry I could scream. My completely unfriendly neighbors who never clean their yard, let their dog run around the back yard barking all day long, have had their siding halfway redone for about six months, and never, ever say hi or wave back at any of the rest of us on this friendly street, just sprayed their house with pesticides. The Orkin truck was there and I was walking dd and the dog and I asked what they were doing. It is a regular quarterly spraying I was told. I have never seen anyone in our area have their house sprayed. Why would we? We live in Seattle, an area not known for terrible pests unless you have a dirty yard or have your house in disrepair (thereby letting spiders and other insects have access to your house). Most people in our area even garden organically. These people also just had a baby a few weeks ago. (Another neighbor told me that since the new parents are completely unfriendly to the rest of us.) Why they would subject their child to pesticides is beyond me. If they would just take care of their yard and their dog, finish replacing their siding (it has been about 9 mos that they have been working very slowly on it - they are almost done but have not done much now for several months.) If they were nicer, the rest of us would have even helped them if they needed it. But now, they have just alienated themselves even more from the rest of us.

What makes me angry is that they could prevent the need for pesticides very easily by just taking care of their house and yard. I can't imagine that money or time is an issue for them since they have nice cars and seem to spend a lot of time at home. I think they are just not interested. They keep their front blinds closed all day and night so they probably don't care about their yard. They have all the construction mess and all the demolition mess and empty bottles of various car substances, etc all over their yard.

I even understand the need to spray for pests on occasion. We had our siding redone and discovered carpenter ants. We had the house treated with a gel that is squirted into the siding with a large needle - the least polluting way of doing it. But these people are just having their yard sprayed for ordinary insects. And subjecting their little newborn to all that pollution for its little lungs.

I have no idea what I can do about this or even if I should do anything. Does anyone have any thoughts?

There's nothing you can do. It's their house, their property. You can't prevent someone from spraying pesticides in their house or their yard. If you have a homeowner's association, you can, however, complain about the disrepair of their home and yard. It brings down property values. I can empathise with you, however.
