Toilet Paper Allergy?

I'm hoping that you can help me out here...about a year or so ago, my regular TP (Quilted Northern) changed their "formula" or something. It looked different & felt different. A short while later I had what I thought was a yeast infection (which is rare for me).. I was itchy and it got pretty bad...progressed to lesions, etc. even after I started treating it with Monostat. After a while I put 2 & 2 together and hypothesized that it was a TP allergy. I switched to Charmin and all was right with the world once more.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I again have lots of vaginal itching, no odor, no discharge, just REALLY itchy. I start using Kleenex to wipe (it's what I had around) and it got a bit better. Then I bought a roll of 7th Gen. TP and I'm totally fine.

So, what is with this? Am I the only one with such an odd affliction? Does anybody know what might be present in (some) TP that I am responding so poorly to? I never had any problem like this prior to last year and prior to the change in the Quilted Northern. Any suggestions for an alternative brand to use (so far Quilted Northern and Charmin are out) or a way to buy 7th Gen less expensively (it's like a buck a roll and I pee a lot :LOL )? I'm looking for a disposable TP vs. cloth wipes (I can CD DD but I just can't get quite that crunchy for myself) and I'm hoping to find something UNlikely to cause a reaction (I don't want to experiment with every brand out there since a reaction is rather uncomfortable).

TIA!

I just want you to know that this happens to me also. It's bad isn't it? It started happening when I was pregnant this last time. I kept going to my midwife and getting checked, but no yeast! It was driving me batty! But I just did the switch to cloth tp, it does help. I know it seems like a lot to do. So if you are unsure about it, maybe just get a few cloth wipes. I know there are a few places that sell them I just serged some old flannel that I have. but I am going to make more for myself this weekend. Oh, for the most part I don't have a problem with the really cheap store brand they sell at Costco either. You may also be having a reaction to the soap you are using. I can only use the gentlest baby soap.It can take, I guess from what I understand, 7 days for the irriation to stop. I hope you feel better soon, and find something that you don't react to.

Sounds like you ladies need to ditch the TP and get a Mini-shower Personal Sprayer. . . it's the BEST. . . One of my twins (5) hated going to the bathroom and tended to become constipated because of it, but once I installed our Mini-Shower and she was able to rinse her little bottom rather than wipe with TP, we haven't had any 'bathroom drama' with her since. . .
