No meds for 4 days

I need to vent or cry or something so please bear with me. We (my dd and myself) moved to this area on 1/1/05 and I still had my old prescription for Lexapro. I've been on it since 2/04 for PPD. I have a long history of depression so PPD wasn't really a surprise just a dissapointment. Anyway, when we got up here I was told that our insurance wouldn't kick in until March 1. (I'm on CalWorks) I figured I had enough meds to last. Well, I was wrong because when I started calling to make an appointment I was told I would have to wait for 6-8 weeks to see a Psych or several weeks for a GP. I cut down my dosage from 20 mg to 10 mg hoping that would hold me until I could actually see a doctor and get more meds. I ran out on Tuesday. Anyway, long story short I finally saw a doctor yesterday she gave me a script for Lexapro I took it to the pharmacy where they told me that my county insurance only covers Prozac. That's it. Prozac only. I've already been going through intense withdrawels-not to mention my breast feeding dd. I feel like I have the flu-high fever, no appetite, sleeping, sore muscles and joints, dizziness.

The pharmacy called the doctors which was of course by that time closed. So, it looks like I can't get anything until Monday now and it has to be Prozac. I am edgy, anxious, have NO patience and am crying all the time. I am just lucky that my cousin is my roommate and she is helping with Liberty.

Sorry if I am rambling I'm not very clear right now.

I am so sorry this happened to you, it is very upsetting and I can completely understand how you feel, though admittedly, haven't gone through what you are going through.

It is a good thing that your cousin is helping with your daughter, but I am so sorry to hear about the physical symptoms you are having in addition to the obvious psychological ones from being off the medication. I know when I quit smoking, which is much different, but I am speaking in terms of *withdrawl* and the like, it helped me a lot to sleep it off, if you can do that...just take a nice bath or shower so you feel clean and fresh, drink some chamomille tea, put a cold compress over your head if you are feverish, put in some soothing music and try to sleep....that of course, only works if you are able to do that...

That might be a really silly suggestion, and I am sorry I can't offer more ...but Monday is really soon, even though it probably seems like forever, and go first thing and get your meds on Monday...I am so sorry prozac is all they cover, I really hope and pray it will bring you some relief

I just didn't want to pass your post without replying...
Good luck to you...

The sleepy part stinks, doesn't it. The first two weeks I went back on, I felt like I was pregnant again. :LOL
