So I had a small tear giving birth. It was in an unusual place, right below my urethra, the inner labia tore away. It has stung, but is getting better by the day. My general vaginal soreness has also been getting better (3.5 hours pushing). But the last two days, I have been having excrutiating vaginal ITCHING. What is happening to me? Is this part of recovery that anyone else has ever experienced, or am I getting an infection?

I was itchy for a while there too. I just made sure I got up in ther with my peri bottle after I used the bathroom. I'm 3 weeks PP and almost totally healed up.

Ugh, I'm so sorry. Yes, I itched, no infection. I was really devoted to my frozen witch hazel pads.

Sorry, just the pain of healing. I tore badly with dd three years ago. Use the peri bottle. I filled mine up with sitz bath herbs & it really helped. I healed fast... No problems & I didn't choose stitches. Good luck....
I was told honey on a pad helps a LOT!! Not as messy as it sounds.

I think itching is a sign of healing.

I also used the peri bottle, sitz bath herbs (comfrey is great) and tons of arnica (homeopathic pellets). And I really should have done a lot more kegels, they can help healing a tear.

I had no tears, stretches, nothing--and I still had itching. I echo the peri bottle recommendation, filled with whatever makes you happy. I love witch hazel; also used plain old Betadine (watered down) for a while. Best wishes!
