beautiful! And I'm wondering too how the pic got posted that way? I've seen it happen before as a fluke....??? Very cool idea! If I ever live in a house for more than a year, we'll try it!

That's a teacher trick. I did it in my classroom, and it is great!

I second the question about the photo. I've never seen anyone do that before!! (on MDC that is)

To put a picture into a thread, you have to have it hosted somewhere else (like if you have your own web space through your internet service provider). Then, just click the little yellow square just above the box where you type your reply. It looks like it has mountains and a sun in it. You paste the location of your picture into the box that pops up, and there it is. See:

The funny thing, is I DO have pics hosted elsewhere, and I use the [ IMG ] tags, but I never get pics. I think mothering has actually banned them or something. I have never, ever, seen anyone else successfully post a pic here at Mothering. It always, Always, shows up as a link..

Ooohhh...this thread is magic!.

I've been trying to figure a way to make this kind of shelf for months - studying units at playgroup; drawing sketches; trying to get inspiration from a stack of wooden pallets behind our shed that are pretty much the limit of our building supplies...

Going to show this to dh!

about pics - we had the ability for just a little while it seems, and now they're back to links

oh, and how is it that you all managed to find that weird carpet-y stuff under all of your dc's things? Your rooms like kinda odd and clean-like.... Got a secret??

I just LOVE this idea!! I'm gonna show dh tonight and see if we can do this for ds. I know he'd read his books more often if he could *see* them!!!

Thanks for the wonderful pics and description of how to build!

fwiw, my 2yo is a BIG time climber and so far she's never tried to climb ours. they are really easy for even the little ones to put the books back and so easy to make/install!!
