What kind of birth are you planning?

I seriously have NO idea. It's good that we are this early in the game!!! We were going to just go to the closest hospital because we have no car, but I hear that the hospital near our house sucks and that it's a bad place to give birth. So we are thinking about going out to Stony Plain instead (about...40 minutes or so) which I don't think would be a problem, seeing as my Mom was in labour with me for over 30 hours...lol... so yeah. The best thing about the hospital in Stony Plain is you can stay in the same room for the entire thing... pre and post labour...and yeah, it's private rooms and...I just feel comfortable with that idea. I've had a lot of recommendations for that hospital. And also, we could have a waterbirth there...which is still up in the air. I think it might be nice to have the tub just in case we want it, but I'm not sure that I will. Anyways, just wondering what you guys are all planning on doing...or if you've thought that far ahead.

home waterbirth for us. This will be our second home waterbirth. Grace was born in a hospital, meds free, after 18 hrs of labor. So I was prepared for the no meds the second time, and am prepared for the third time.

Of course, barring anything unforseen, like double breech twins or 8 day podromal labor or something drastic!

Homebirth, possibly a waterbirth (i'm definitly renting a birth tub from the midwife to labor in the water). I haven't been to the hospital for any of my births and I'm not about to start now, haha.

i don't know yet -- erin was a csection after about 24 hrs of hard drug-free labor. She was a big baby, posterior and just wouldn't descend no matter what the heck we tried to do. In the end she was bleeding from me trying to push her out. But healthy overall.

I had a really hard recovery, problems nursing, etc. so i am debating between sceduled repeat csection and a hospital vbac. Right now I am leaning towards vbac, but I think I might decide at the last minute depending upon baby's position, my health, baby's size, etc. I fully trust my doc -- I know lots of women have vbacs with her -- so I figure we'll decide what's best as it becomes more clear.

We're planning for a homebirth/probably waterbirth. Our first was a hospital birth with your typical nightmare of intervientions, so we are really looking forward to this birth. DH and I both our midwife and feel really comfortable with her!

So far we are planning a birth at the birthing center where we had ds. However, I'm working on my husband to convince him that a home birth would be better, even though we are in an apartment. That's his main concern, that it might be wierd having the neighbors hear any primal birth noises that may escape me. I have my 12 week appointment this coming week and dh will be there. So I thought I'd at least bring up the possibility to the midwife and get a conversation going about it. I also need to see if my insurance covers it. If a homebirth doesn't happen for any reason, the birthing center birth would have to have a few changes from last time: no "stirring things up" without my permission (luckily the midwife that did that isn't there anymore, but I want to mention it to the new midwife), very minimal if any vaginal checks during labor, and if we can afford it I'd love to have a doula. .

Water birth in our living room! OUr 4th baby but hopefully our 2nd home waterbirth.

Worldshakerz, we rent out the suite in our basement to a family of four. My last birth happened at 1:00 a.m. with my doula barely making it and my midwife screeching up in the driveway and running in just in time to catch the placenta! And the next morning our tenants were surprised the baby had come because they hadn't heard a thing! And while I wasn't as loud as I have been in the past, I was making strong vocalizations! Just keep it in mind. It might still work for you!

Homebirth. I just can not bear the thought of having another hospital birth.
I hope at the very least, I could birth in a birthcenter, if not at home.

Hospital Birth. This is my first child and luckily we have a really great OB that isn't pushy. I want to be realistic about the whole process. I want to go as far as I can without an epidural. If I can go all the way, awesome! If not, I won't beat myself up about it.

We're planning on a homebirth with a midwife. We'll probably rent a tub, but our tub might be big enough. I'm not sure that I'll want to actually deliver in the water (so many of my friends seem to want to get out around pushing time) but I'm definitely going to love it during labor. With my first, I went to an OB and delivered at a small women's hospital. THey still had a 25% c/s rate, but I was pretty happy with my experience overall. I do think I got lucky, though, and I also had a great doula. I didn't know I'd want to do an unmedicated birth til I was about 6 months along. By that time, I was afraid and also a bit too lazy to switch to a midwife. I'm really looking forward to this experience...not just the homebirth, but the prenatal care I'll receive at the midwifery.

We're planning a unassisted homebirth. My last baby was born in the hospital, but DH caught him since the dr and nurses weren't even in the room. I really wanted to have a homebirth that time, but DH wouldn't allow it and I proved to him that we could have done it anyway

So since this is my last baby I am definitely doing it the way I want to. My new DH is worried but I haven't given him a choice hehe.

I think we are going to have a hospital birth. I would love a home water birth but we live about 45 min. away from a hospital and this is my first baby. We are going later this week to check out the hospital and meet with one of the midwifes that was recommend to us. They have a separate birthing facility with home like rooms that you can stay in the entire time and they have birthing tubs We are planning on a drug free birth :

As of right now, because of our financial situation, a natural hospital birth w/ a midwife.

My heart wants another home waterbirth. I am praying so hard that things change so I can be at home.

I think I'm planning a second birth center birth. I'd actually just as soon stay home this time, but my toddler would not do well at a birth, and I want her to be able to be in her home while I labor. I had a great birth the first time, but there were a few frustrating logistics about the birth center that I hope to iron out for the next birth. I'm on the board there now, and I think they'll probably be willing to help me.

I wrote my dissertation about pregnancy and birth, and by the time I finished it, I knew I'd never set foot in a hospital for a normal birth.

I am planning a natural hospital birth with the midwife who helped me birth the other 3. I would love to have a homebirth, but dh wouldn't go for it. I am also an L&D nurse at the hospital where I will birth so I know everyone and feel very comfortable there. They know the kind of birth I want to have so that helps. I was only there an hour before I had the last one. Hoping for less time this time. I'm only 10 minutes away.

I only stay one night too. The beds are so uncomfortable and I don't need to be bothered. I am thinking about having a BTL so it depends on that if I stay an extra night this time.

I had one of those nightmarish hospital births with my first one as well- didn't end in a c-section, but in retrospect, I can see all the interventions were needed because of something the doctors did.

Second birth was an accidental homebirth, which was another nightmare because of how the nurses on the phone and the paramedics handled the situation- so I was terrified of homebirth after that.

Number three: we made it to the hospital with plenty of time, and I delivered naturally, but had this realization that they didn't do anything there for me that I couldn't have done at home, and I would have been much more comfortable at home! SO...

I've come full circle and I'm planning to homebirth this fourth babe.
