What kind of birth are you planning? - Page 2

I'm so torn right now with trying to make this decision!
We tried for a homebirth with our daughter, and it would have worked out if I had been a bit more diligent following my midwifes advice (read: I shoulda taken the castor oil 6 hours earlier!) The only thing I hadn't read about in all my pounds of reading was my water breaking too early, and my labor not starting right away. So, we ended up transporting simply because 29 hours after my water broke, I still wasn't in heavy labor.

I would very much like to have this next baby at home. But I don't know if my insurance will cover the expenses, and I don't know if we can afford to pay out of pocket costs.

But I'll tell ya, at my first prenatal, when my bloodpressure skyrocketed just by entering the OB office (normally very low), and they cooly informed me about this and that, I wanted to run straight to my midwife and sit down with a cup of tea for a nice long chat...

This is a decision that must be made!

I had a emergency/planned C-section with my dd at 37 weeks due to pre-e, so this time barring any complications, I would like to try a drug-free VBAC in a hospital.

We're planning a hospital, midwife-attended birth. I may or may not hire a doula this time around. My first birth was induced and was really difficult, so I hope that this one is easier.

We plan to have this child, our third, at the hospital. Although a (accidental) unassisted home birth sounds great to me. We have no birthing centers or Midwives here where I live in MN. We did pick a new OB this time and we love him! He is not pushy and seems to want to do what ever I want. Great for us. Our other two were born at this same hospitial naturally and we hope for the same with this one! The hospital is great though. I get to do what I want with our childern. Even cloth diaper. No disposeis for us! We also get to go home after 24 hrs. We love that too!

Mommy to homeschooled Lindy(5) and Noah(2).One due in Oct. : :

We're planning an unassisted homebirth. It is simply too dangerous to give birth at the Army hospital here (they have about a 1 in 20 rate of life-threatening complications!), and I'm not convinced TriCare would cover a midwife. Current plan is to get prenatal care at one of the civilian hospitals in the area and then accidentally give birth at home.

we were going for a midwife assisted, drug free hospital VBAC. But, I just found out the midwifes are leaving the practice and there are no others in town. I do think I will stay with the docs at the practice since both are fabulous and 1 did do the emergency section for my son.

We will still try for drug free VBAC but will hire my old Bradley instructor/doula for support during labor and delivery. DH is wonderful and supportive in every way but his illness prevents him from being able to be active for long periods of time so he will need someone to help me so he can rest.
