Your favorite Notion?

What's your favorite Notion to use while making diapers?

Personally I love my little hair barette things. I have no idea what they're called but they are metal and bend to close and open. I use them to hold layers of fabric together and in place (and applix in place when sewing it on). After using these for the past few months I don't think I could ever pin again!!

What about you? What's your favorite notion?

I agree, those bendy clips are great!

Love my thread ripper :LOL They show it on this page as seam ripper. Not that I use it very often for diapers anymore LOL but it works as a stand in for scissors in a pinch and makes it way easier to rip out serged seams if necessary!

I could use that right now! I've just messed up the back elastic on this diaper for the second time today and I still can't find my tiny seam ripper! So annoying to take out a 3-step stitch! I shouldn't work so late!

Duck Tape :LOL

Thats what I use to put my pul w/ the other layers so I dont put any holes in it.

I also love my pin cushion.. Its a wrist band and I always put the pins back! I used to end up leaving them all over the place

Duct tape! ROFL! Have you tried using a ball point needle for sewing PUL?

And does anyone know of some nifty way not to leave the thread scraps all over the place? I'm constantly leaving little piles here and there which stick to EVERYTHING!

Definitely my seam ripper-it gets a LOT of use! :LOL I drop all my thread snips on the floor and vacuum them up later.

Barettes! What a cool idea - I will have to try that.

My fav is cans of soup to hold the fabric/pattern down while I am cutting with my rotary cutter. I don't have to pin and the fabric doesn't pull out of shape where it dangles off the table (serious space issues in my house).

I keep a garbage can by my left hand when sewing. snip-and-dump. Otherwise they get EVERYWHERE and drive me nuts. Especially since I always see to sew right after I've vacuumed. The little cut-off corners of aplix also seem to get everywhere in my house.

Lint roller. I use it for everything.
I have a little metal tray for my pins that I can just toss them into without them flying all over the place.
My little Ginghers thread clipping scissors.
Those are my favorites.

My thread snips, seam ripper, and giant clear ruler (6 x 24) I could not sew without them.
