Sources for window alarms?

I've been kind of working on getting ds into his room but there's been some huge , unexplainable reluctance on my part (besides the normal anticipation of missing co-sleeping). I finally figured it out: I'm paranoid that someone is going to come in the night and steal him. Yes, I know. I'm usually more rational than that. :LOL

So, I figure that window alarms will help alleviate my worry and thought I'd ask if anyone knows where to get them? I'd need something with automatic shut-off because I like to open the windows in the spring.

Thanks for any help.

It's great to know that there is someone else out there with the same irrational fears as me. :LOL I bought some window locks from the hardware store and put those on. Yet, I'm still paranoid because of some movie I watched on Lifetime when I was pregnant where some guy cut a hole in the glass to steal babies.

Dragonfly, if you call a home security company (like ADT or Brink's, for example), they can either sell those to you or direct you to where you can buy them elsewhere. Maybe a big hardware store like Home Depot or Lowe's would have them? I'm not sure.

You could talk to the security company about installing a whole system, if you wanted. That would probably alleviate a lot of your fears. It's not that expensive, really. You can often get free installation, and the monitoring can be very inexpensive, like $20-$30 per month.

Oh, and please note that I'm not endorsing or advertising ADT and Brink's. They were just the first two companies that came to mind immediately. You probably have several companies in your area.

Home Depot has them for about $5. They stick on the window and will sound an alarm if the window is disturbed in any way. I've been scared a few times when trying to adjust the blinds or open the window. It's loud!

Thanks for the help, everybody. And it's nice to have commiseration, sarah_bella. :LOL

Corvus, I'd love to do get a whole system! It's just ds and I and I feel so vulnerable sometimes. Unfortunately, I'm in a rented apartment. It'll be the first thing I look into when we're finally in a house, though! Regardless, I'll call them now and ask about the window alarms.

And that's one of my biggest fears, USAmma - that the darn thing will go off when I'm messing with the window. :LOL

Dragonfly, I think you could still have a whole system installed for your apartment. Of course, you need to ask your landlord for permission first. Talk to him/her and then talk to an alarm company.
