Decoupaging AOL promotional tins

I just got one of those maddening AOL disks in the mail - this time, in a slide tin that's about 4"x4". I don't want to put it in a landfill so I'm thinking I might try and decoupage it. Could be a nice "box" for a gift card or something.

Anyone ever try this? How did it work out? I figure I'll have to be careful not to add bulk to the underside where the slide part is - any other tips?

You might want to rough up the surface before applying anything, give it something to grip. I found one of those when cleaning last night, tossed it into the recyclables because it was too squished for future reuse.

Ah - good tip, thanks. I've got a stash of Altoid's tins, too, so I hope I remember to sand them up when I finally get around to doing something with them.
