I so have to agree with what you heard in that lecture. I love to read mainly bio's and autobio's and most of the creative people when children where left to their own. Take Beatrix Potter for example, and look at her books.

I think structure really does in the imagination.
I think a routine is good but forget the structure unless its child led.

I don't understand the difference between structure and routine in the sense that it's being referred to in this thread. I mean if I make a point of taking my kid to the park in the afternoons (as long as he likes going) that surely isn't inhibiting his creativity is it?
