Hey ladies. Just wanted to stop in and say hi. Everyone is sleeping!!!!!! so I am taking this oppourtunity to get some things done.
How is everyone doing?
I have tried to briefly scan the posts, there isn't too much to catch up on, but I'll be darned if I can remember too much.
Lousli, I feel terrible for you to have to go to work, but glad that it isn't for too long.
Are you done for good then, or just done for the summer?

Shannon, just hope you get some solutions. Poor little Molly. You are so patient with the situation. Sleep deprivation is no fun at all. An actual method of torture!

Monica, thinking of you.

Ok, one of my little monkeys is awake.
Thinking of you all Jasmine

Susan, it's normal for breastfed babies to go from having several poops a day to going several days between poops. Up to 10 days is perfectly fine. When my 3-year old was an infant, he would go about once a week. That sounds great in theory, but what happened was he would have blowouts all day; all his clothes ended up getting stained yellow. It would actually shoot up to his hair!

Shannon-- You need it!

Hi ladies!

Add me to the list of mamas who get online once every few days at MOST these days! I wish I had time for personals but just a quick to Lesley for your awesome strides in breastfeeding Hazel!

Baby is 6 weeks old tomorrow -- he was 13 lbs 15 oz. 2 days ago so I'm sure he'll be well up over 14 by tomorrow. He's doing well sleeping - we go to bed around 9 and between 9 and 6-7 when we wake up, he only nurses twice. Ooooh yeah!!!! I've also noticed his sleep/wake and eating routine is really becoming a lot more predictable, which is helpful with 2 kids that's for sure.

I am also strictly no-dairy, tomatoes, citrus, peanuts, or chocloate. I try to limit soy and wheat too. I plan to add back each starting with dairy sometime in a few weeks to see whether he can tolerate. This was all preventive b/c my oldest son had MAJOR reflux as a baby (w/ weight gain issues) and had dairy sensitivities that he's only recently grown out of (and even now if I let him drink more than 1.5-2 cups of cow's milk per day his poops will be runny) and soy and wheat (again, a quantity issue) I think too. I seriously miss tea and coffee (decaf) and breakfast cereal, which I can only tolerate with milk. Oh, and ice cream.

He has the beginnings of cradle cap too. Both my kids had it forever. Dd still has a scale or two!

Will check back in a bit. He's waking up....

I manage to get online a lot only because dh is home right now too, and dd#1 is in preschool until 12 everyday. I'm also using a lot of this time to knit though, so I'll have to take pictures of my things I've done so far. I have completed 1 soaker, and I'm about 1/3 of the way through a nother, and have a sweater for Melly that has 9 inches knit in the back (have to get to 13.5 inches, plus do the front and sleeves). I'm loving it, and I wish i could just stay home and knit all the time.

Periwinkle, I can't believe how big William is! My friend who had her son at 6 pounds at 33w 5d was over yesterday with him. He is 3.5 months old and is 14 pounds. But this kid is a preemie, just 2 weeks older than Hazel! I imagine William must nurse a lot?

Jasmine, Hope you're enjoying some time to get some rest. It sounds like you're pretty busy. I go back to work and am done after the school year. I actually got fired, so I couldn't return even if I wanted to, which I don't. I was going to resign. So, almost done, counting the days.

Tricia, Awesome tandem nursing pic! I wish you and your friends could come tell some of my friends that nursing an older child is okay!

Monica, How are you doing? I know you were battling some depression. Have you talked to your doc about that? Is there anything we can do to support you? I'm thinking fo you right now.

Shannon, I'm so sorry things are rough for you and Molly right now. I wish I knew what to say to help. I hope you are able to get some sleep soon. Hugging you...

Heve, I'm thinking about you and Marcus. I know you must be super busy, but just hoping that everyone is settling in great and breastfeeding is getting better. Let me know if you need to talk about it.

Susan, you might try a little tummy massage or bicycling his legs if you're worried that he's constipated. But yeah, as others have mentioned, sometimes it just takes a few days.

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone! Tomorrow is lurking in my mind and making me nervous, but I'm going to try to enjoy today anyway!

Shannon--Korbin was on soy based formula and it had DHA and ARA or whatever those are. He was on Isomil Advanced and Pro-Sobee Lipil and then before that some kind of special milk prescribed by the doc. When he got aroun 6 months he was able to tolerate the Isomil Advanced and then around 9 months we switched him to Pro-Sobee Lipil and he was all good. Ironically enough he tolerates cows milk GREAT now, no gas no rash and no wheezing and he drinks about 24-32 oz of whole milk a day now. After you get over the inital hump of trying to find a milk that suites her it will be much easier. But for you guys until then. Kane drinks his formula VERY well no probs except he is a bottomless pitt and a chuncky monkey!!! But those are problems I like to have.

Kane had his hip ultrasound yesterday, they said they think they look ok... but they were going to have somebody else look at them. I thought I felt a hernia when I was changing him over the weekend but he has his 2 month check up on Thursday so I guess we'll see.

No time for more personals b/c I have to mop while both kids are down.

Thanks, I'm really hoping she starts to do well again. Question--were the ARA DHA containing soy formulas by prescription?? At least in Canada they don't seem to have any on the shelf that contain the added ara and dha. (I spent an hour in the formula aisle at the drugstore yesterday) I can however ask my doctor for a script. I ended up putting her on the Nestle Alsoy figuring that of all the milk formulas the Nestle was the one she tolerates best, she no longer throwing anything up--but of spit up here and there but no actual puking where she's loosing most of the feed. She much happier and she's been sleeping most of the day but waking every 90 minutes to eat, she's so tired but I figure that's because she hasn't slept well in days. Her rash already looks better with the cortisone-which at least confirms it's not baby acne. I'm so hoping this formula works for her, I just hate this playing musical formulas--although I suppose from that perspective breast milk is a little different every day depending on what mom eats--right?
I think I'll call Nestle and ask them if dha and ara are in the formula and if there is a feasable supplement available if they aren't in there.

Hi everyone. I turned off my computer for a few days (although I did cheat and used DH's twice) to give myself a break. I've been busy sewing a diaper bag and attempting to make diapers...I still need practice.

I went to the doctor yesterday. She gave me a referral to a therapist who doesn't accept Tricare, but will see patients for her...so I know I'm going to be seeing someone good. I also have an anal fissure : Due to that I am kind of stopped up because I just can't work up the courage. She had to do an exam on me and I can say that never in my life have I felt so violated :LOL

I'm going to WV this weekend to visit my grandparents for Easter...then next Wednesday, I'm going to FL for two weeks. I'm kind of dreading the WV trip because my grandmother is certain I'm "not satisfying" my son and thinks I need to give him cereal now that he's a month old. : I am looking forward to seeing my cousins. They're both pregnant and I want to encourage them to BF. If they see me do it, maybe they will realize it's not that hard. I also want to give them tons of advice and I'm going to offer them my enormous prefold stash if they want to CD.

Well I have to run, DH is home from work and we have to go pick my car up from the shop. The idiots at the dealership messed up my door panel when they fixed my window and my door wouldn't close all the way. Idiots :

Hi everyone.

Haven't been online much these days...have had some pretty overwhelming days over here at bf bootcamp...Yesterday I had a weird thing come on really quickly - I had a fever and was chilled such that I couldn't stop trembling for some time...no appetite, etc. Thankfully, dh took over EVERYTHING - changes, bottles, cuddles...

I'm just so tired of the long drawn out feeding sessions that are always followed by pumping. I can't wait to ditch all the paraphenalia! My nerves have been quite raw in the last couple of days...

We had a good session today at the LC, though - Marcus was actually on the breast without a nipple shield! I'm trying to keep hope about the whole thing...I guess with his traumatic birth, being suctioned, the separation, and the NICU stay, he really balks at having a mouth full of breast. He is a growing boy, though, and all on my EBM - he's two weeks today, and up to 8 lbs from his 7 1/2 lb birth weight.

On another positive note, he LOVES the kangaroo pouch, both on me and dad. Dh calls it daddy's secret weapon.

Speaking of raw nerves, I should try to get some sleep now...

Lesely - thanks for your offer - I may take you up on it - mabye after the net sleep! And Shannon, too - I'll call you back after, k?

Well the funny thing is, while he nursed nonstop for about 3 weeks he's actually been settling down nicely these past 2-3 weeks (with no drop off in his typical weight gain of 1.5-2 (yes, TWO ) ounces a day). I'd say he takes only 6 big feedings a day (i.e., draining both right and left breasts well) but has another 4-6+ times on the breast lasting anywhere from a few minutes to nursing marathons of 45 min. or more. He's definitely adept at getting the milk out quickly plus I do breast compression toward the end. He is a lot like my other two kids re: predictability... I think sometimes I could set a clock to 1am and 5am (when he wakes up to nurse, with last feeding nursing to sleep at 9pm and first feeding when we wake up at 7am).

OT.... I'm trying tomato sauce tonight (had been avoiding tomatoes for CYA purposes but thinking it might be overkill plus try to find something non-dairy made w/o tomatoes ). :

I'm afraid I'm not up for personals either, but I am reading along, celebrating the good and hoping those of us with challenges improve quickly.

We're traveling across the state this weekend for a baby shower for my sister - she's due at the end of May. It's a little early for a shower, but the weekend worked for me and I'm hostessing.

In other exciting news, I finished knitting a poncho I have been working on forever, probably before Thanksgiving. I wanted to get it done so I could wear it while pumping during the car ride, and possibly while feeding Flannery. It's a good weight - the yarn is a boucle and the weave is pretty open. It provides good coverage with good air circulation. Heck, I may make another, now.

Little Miss Flannery is still screaming through most diaper changes, and she is a bit uncooperative during nighttime feedings, but she is only getting up once or twice at night, so I'll be happy with that.

Christine, call the Dr immediately or go in ASAP. It sounds like you are experiencing mastitis. If you do and they put you on antibiotics try to get some acidopholus from the HFS to keep you from developing thrush. I hope it's just a weird PP thing and not mastitis, you don't need to deal with that too.

Christine... I had weird temperature fluxuations for about 2 weeks post partum... let me know what they tell you, I pretty much just ignored mine.
Thanks, Monica. That had crossed my mind, but was feeling too out of it to respond. I think it may be too late now, though. It went away as quickly as it came on. The trembling and fever came on very quickly in the evening, but during the night, my temp had fallen (but still low-grade fever). I was still dragged out, but today I feel normal (ha! normal...) - appetite back, no chills, but temp still low grade. I was at the LC today, and mentioned it, but she didn't make any comment. I see my mw tomorrow - I'll specifically ask about it. I'll get back on my acidophilus again now, just in case.

going to check out Joy's hair, then to catch a short snooze...

Good evening ladies

I'm heading up to bed soon. We have Autumn's one month appt tomorrow (a week late) and I can't wait to see how she's grown. She developed rolls on her thighs overnight though so she's growing cute and chubby :LOL

Today Joy and I had lunch with the babies and they were both complete angels Dominic pretty much just chilled in her sling the whole time and Autumn slept...it was glorious! Afterwards though we were in the parking lot and a creepy guy came up to us one at a time and asked for money for his "out of gas" car that was no where to be seen. Joy still had her baby in the sling when he came up to her though and I was ready to pounce if he tried something. Thankfully he just walked away. Stupid guy...thinking moms with their newborns were going to give him cash. *shudder*
Joy's hair looks really nice BTW

Have a good night everyone.

Hey everyone, Wow have we got a beutiful bunch of babies! Mine has actually been asleep for over an hour in his stupid vibrating chair
I went for my 6 week check up today and spent most of the visit dealing with Nigel. He's up to 10#10 ounces at not quite 6 weeks! I, on the other hand, have lost 7 pounds in the last 4 weeks. Not great, but its a start. I also had his frenum clipped as he is a bit tongue tied and my nipples seem to resembles raw hamburger after every feeding. Now I just need him to stop trying to pull them off and nursing will be smooth sailing.
My ND asked the inevitable "what are you using for contraception" question and I showed her the hand slapping motion that seems to be working for now :LOL . Anyone else "allowed to" but have absolutely no desire at all? This is sooo oposite of my normal behavior. I did get an excuse though. Because i can't seem to not "over do it" (whatever that means) my incision is still quite tender, so the doc said it would probably be very uncomfortable to have sex anyway for at least a couple of weeks. My uterus apparently has 3 cm to shrink still too.
eek! its late! Got to brush my teeth before the man demands my attention.
