Professional Snap Press Question

I'm new here and just getting started in trying to learn the world of cloth diapers. If this isn't posted in the right place, feel free to move it. I was unsure of where to post my question!

I was looking into buying a set-up for applying snaps and was trying to figure up what would be my total investment into something like this.

For those who have bought a professional snap press, all the pieces/parts you need, and snaps to get started-How much was the total price?

And, I'm a bit loss on the different pieces it needs...does anyone care to explain a bit. I figured it might make a bit more sense when I finally buy one and see it sitting in front of me.

Thanks for any help you can give!

WELCOME!!!

This will probably get moved to the diaper making forum ...

visit www.diapershop.com for press info ... I think Jessica/Eric have a pre-order going for presses at the moment.

The one shop diaper shop has a pretty good explanation of all this stuff. I think the start up for their equipt is something like $100-150. So it's a pretty big investment....I think that there are other places that you can buy for a bit cheaper.

I love my snap press, it's totally paid for itsself in terms of fun and stash building. I've made tons of diapers for dd #1 and I have a dream hyenna stash of 12 NB wool covers for baby on the way that only cost me about $1 each to make (aside from the snap press cost).

Definitely check out the diapershop.com's snap faq page like everyone said. Another store to check out is www.thesnapstore.com they have tons of colors available and good prices too. Wendy is really great to work with

Check out the TP too, I think I saw one available there yesterday. Or try posting an ISO.

I have seen snap presses for sale on E-bay too. You will find tons of other stuff to snap once you get it. :LOL

Thanks for all the replies ladies!

I've seen one on ebay recently, but was unsure if it was a good deal or not. I've glanced at one of the diaper websites that sold the diaper press, dies, and snap sets but was a bit confused by all the die sets. Which type of snap is better-Industrial or standard? I'll definitely head over and check out the TP as well! Thanks for the suggestion!

Also, does anyone know how much it normally costs for shipping when you buy a snap press, etc? And, also-Which size of snaps do most people like on their diapers? I'm not use to the plastic snap sizes (I've only used the metal ones so far). I'm just trying to figure out which size of dies to buy-There are so many sizes to choose from!

Again-Thanks for all the help!

If you go to the One Stop Diaper Shop you can go all the way through checkout and the page before the payment page will tell you how much shipping is, it won't commit you to the order. I do it all the time.

Jenn-

I didn't realize that! Thanks for the info...I think I'll head there and see how much everything totals up to then! I started to do that yesterday, but when I got to the part with the shipping details (address, etc) I stopped because I was afraid it was going to commit me to the order! :LOL
