Can you have a birth tub on a second floor?

I live in a bungalow but the main level is over a full basement so it is like it's two floors. I've had people tell me I can't have the birthing pool in my bedroom like I want because the floor won't be able to support it. Is this true? My pool holds 106 gallons. Thanks!

Our pools hold 120 gallons and weigh close to 900 lbs when they are filled. Would you be able to have a waterbed? If so, then you should be fine. Is it an older or newer house? Honestly, if you're concerned the only way to know for sure is to have a contractor come in a check it out for you.

Hope that helps. It really just depends on the structure of your home.

I was concerned with that during my last homebirth, since we lived in a 2 story apartment. We had a waterbed there at one time with no problems, so I actually called a waterbed store to ask how many gallons a queen size waterbed would hold and what the building standards were in our area. The clerk got a kick out of my call, and it gave me peace of mind

Now I just have to locate and patch the hole in our birth pool sometime before this baby comes so I don't have to run to the store in the middle of labor to buy a new one...lol

Happy birthing to you!
