I'm looking for a place to buy some soft thin leather to make some Robeez style shoes. I just got the Sew Darling pattern and can't wait to get started. I have no idea where to buy some colored leather from. Any ideas??

How wonderful! I spent hours looking for a shoe pattern last night. I really want to make some little leather shoes for my daughter. That pattern will work perfectly.

Have you tried checking out ebay for some leather?

Subscribing to this thread.

I've made some shoes this week from the Darling Diapers pattern, I really like it. So far I've used suede from garments I found at the thrift store. I would love to be able to chose colors and use a smooth leather.

I have looked on ebay but it seems pricey unless you are making lots of shoes. There is a yahoo group too, maybe someone remembers the name?

There is a Yahoo group but when I chatted with her last she had decided not to sell leather anymore. EBay is most likely the best bet, just look under scrap leather. I'd send you some but I am on bedrest and can't really move around my leather boxes right now :

Thanks for all the great ideas. I'm going to buy some fleece to practice on today, but I'm going to check out ebay.

There are some pretty good deals to be had on ebay. Be sure you're buying lightweight leather, especially if you are searching for scraps, as lots of the scraps there are thick heavyweight stuff and will definitely not work for shoes, much less your sewing machine...

I think the best deals if you don't mind lots of trips to the local thrift store is to check them out regularly and you can get some nice lightweight garment leather in funky colors for super cheap.

See if you have a local Tandy Leather. I get all my leather and leatherworking supplies from them.
