Governor Blagojevich (pronounced bla-GOYA-vich) of IL rocks!! On Saturday we got a card in the mail from the Governor, welcoming our baby and it was stamped with his signature. I thought that was pretty cool, but then I found something even way better in the envelope...
There was an insert from his wife, Patricia, entitled "Breastfeeding Your Child". Here's what it said:
How awesome is that? I mean it's great that he signed that law, but to go the extra step and send out a card with that insert to new mothers is ultra cool! Yay for Gov. Blagojevich!!! 
I think I'm going to write a letter to him and his wife.

As a mother of two young daughters, I know how special this time can be, and want to take a moment to make sure you know about a new law my husband signed that directly affects all new mothers. This law makes it illegal to prohibit women from breastfeeding their children in public places. It is every woman's right to breastfeed her child in any place, public or private. Hopefully, this law will help make women feel more comfortable about breastfeeding their children anytime and anywhere, and encourage more women to think about the benefits of breastfeeding, and how it can positively impact the lives of their children. Please help spread the word to all mothers of young children that prohibiting them from breastfeeding in public places is not only wrong, it is illegal. Again, congratulations. We should all write our governors telling them what this woman has done. That is so awesome!
