Thrift store suede and leather safety...

Do I need to worry about how the suede I find in thrift store garments (to recycle as shoes) is dyed/treated? I didn't even think about it until I read this:Robeez FAQ. The link describes the standards Robeez uses for safe leather, but doesn't give me a lot of reassurance that any leather/suede product I find will be as safe. I know that my little guy is perfectly capable of pulling off a shoe and teething on it.

Is anyone familiar with this issue? What do you think? Should I scrap the four pairs of suede soft sole shoes I just cut out today and find something like windpro instead? Or do you know a source for safe leather? Help!

A lot just depends on your babe. If they put everything, including their toes, in their mouth then you might want to rethink. If it's shoes, especially worn over socks, I wouldn't stress at all.
