Exemptions in Oregon?

Does anyone have experience with exemptions in Oregon? How hard is it to get a medical exemption? Can a ND write the exemption, and does it have to be from within the state of Oregon? The religious exemption looks pretty limited.

Thanks!

I think medical exemptions are very hard to get. If I ever move out of this state (that offers philosophical) I am going to claim religious.

THe religious one is very easy. I've never had it questioned, even though ds had his shots until 12 mos. One school sent a notice that ds was behind. I just highlighted the religeous exemption part of the from, signed it, and never heard a word about it again.

My mom claimed it for me too, because couldn't get medical, even though I had a reaction to the DPT.
THe only problem I had growing up was being quarantined when measles was going around at my school. I'm sure kids with medical exemptions would ahve been sent home also.

Oh, and no-one can ask you what religion you are either.

Thanks for the info. Oregon is a state we might move to in the future. Right now we're in a really easy state- just have to check a box for philosophical exemption.

I'm sorry you had a reaction to the DPT liawbh, but it was good your mom took charge of things.

As mentioned, Oregon is very easy. Just leave the form blank (no matter how many or few vaxes your kid has had - that way they won't mistakenly think he's "behind"), and then sign the little religious exemption box at the bottom. Nothing to it.
