THIS is exactly why I've stayed away from rib knits. I've heard they can be tricky, but I thought... 'how hard can it be?' :LOL
So I read up online, and all of the sites I found said there is nothing special to do with knits, just stretch a bit when sewing a straight stitch. (I'm just using a plain old Singer sewing machine)
The problem is, my machine keeps missing stitches when I sew. I've done everything from rethread the machine to adjust the tension (all the way down to 0 and up to 7). The tension seems to matter a little. But no matter what I do, it skips stitches.
I'm using a ball-point needle, that's what I'm supposed to use, right?
I've heard people mention a walking foot, but I'm not sure what that is (and I'm pretty sure I don't have one- darn it- where did that manual go???).
Any suggestions? I finished my current project (with crappy looking seams), but I'd like to know how to do this right for my next project.
Am I crazy to think this would be easier with a serger (man, do I want a serger!)
