St. John's Wort?

Does it work? If so, how long does it take to start working? I started taking an organic St. John's Wort 1.5weeks ago but have not seen a difference yet and am wondering if it just isn't going to work for me. It says take one - two times daily. I started with once and upped to twice.

Also, I did a search on the web but couldn't really find much negative info on the herb. Is there anything horrible about it I should know?

I am not depressed but I am burned out and in a rut and I do feel I need something to get past it.

Thanks mamas

It has much clinical research backing its effectiveness. It can take up to 2 months to really start to be effective though, and even then it just may be the wrong thing for you as an individual.
I recently saw something called Noni Juice that supposedly is a good natural remedy. If your St. Johns wort experiment turns out to be a failure perhaps that would be worth looking into. Good luck!

I was told to try some B Complex vitamins...they do seem to be helping a bit...I was feeling basically annoyed with life, not depressed, just annoyed.

I've been taking St. Johns Wort now for about four months. I am not depressed per say, at least not biochemically, only situationally, but like you put it, I am worn out...I do however, also have a mild anxiety disorder. I needed something just to keep me level and I had been a guinea pig for many years for many different kinds of medications, and hated every minute of it. So I just stopped all the chemicals and started finding better ways.

St. Johns Wort is one of the things that seems to be working for me. However, I am also a larger woman, so I doubled the dose. I didn't see any changes or improvements until about two months, maybe two and a half months into it, but now, I'm able to step back and look at things better than I could before, without getting terribly anxious and angry. I don't get incredibly sad because i'm so worn out as often as I used to (mind you, I still have my days). I also take a multivitamin, and I've started to change my diet so that I'm eating more whole foods than I used to. Eating better helps A LOT, and I'm actually starting to lose some weight (which is most excellent because I have about 150# I need to lose). Also, we joined the YMCA, and try to go work out as much as we can, because when you excersise, you are releasing those feel good energies, and getting yourself going.

Well, sorry to write so much, but anyways I am totally pro-SJW, and keep with it, I know that it takes longer to affect some people. If you don't feel any better after about two and a half or three months, maybe up the dose a little bit. My mother in law also doubled her dose and found that it works that way for her too.

Hope some of this helped.

Good Luck Mama!!!!!!!!
