Pattern for Cloth Diaper friendly pants?

Without thinking I made Stella some wool pants... problem is the rise is WAY too low for her CD booty. So much for that wool.

I'm not astute enough to add to a pattern... anyone know of one?

I don't know of a pattern but I just pinned up on him and then sewed where I pinned. It turned out well, at least I thought so!

LOL! I have seen all your sewing threads... everything looks great!

Then you haven't seen the early ones! There's something to be said for practice!

So what are you going to do?

I was thinking of trying this pattern... and hoping it's roomier in the seat than the ones that I have.

I've used a pants master pattern ("one-seam" type for knits) from Kwik Sew---it's in the book Sewing For Babies, and I would assume it's available as an individual pattern as well. My son is enormous, and since he's CD'd, none of the store-bought pants I have fit over his little [big] bum-bum. Kwik-Sew's pattern sews up quickly, has a very generous diaper cut to it and a nice high rise, and they look great. HTH!

that pattern does look good and high waisted from the pic. I recently had the same problem w/ a pr of pants i made for dd, the back waist came halfway up her bottom!!!

Hey Sheena, I think you could fix the problem by adding a couple of inches in height to the top of each quadrant (half leg) of the pattern, then when you sew the waist down, at the end, determine how high you want the waist to be, and fold over accordingly.

You don't understand, lol, I am a pattern MORON! It has something to do with my inability to do math or read a map I think. The couple of times I have tried to make any alterations I ruin stuff. :LOL

This is the only pants pattern I even have! You could sew the pants together where the split would normally be.

If you're seriously against pattern I can tell you pretty easily how I make Nathan's pants from a sweater but you'd have to use a sweater.. do you have a sweater you can make the pants out of?

Thanks for that post! With those hints and links I'll now know what to do in the future once DS is born and in dipes!

I made a pair of the New Conceptions reversible pants for my cloth-diapered DS this week. I really liked them. I thought they were adorable. They were really easy to make, too. Great directions! DS is 10 months old, a little over 31 1/2 inches long, and more than 25 lbs. I altered the pattern a little to make the legs longer since the inseam was a little short for his legs. The 12-24 month size fits OK on him now but there isn't much room to grow. The next pair I make (I am going to make several pairs since they were so easy) I will use the 2t-3t size. They might be a little big on him but I want them to hopefully fit my Godzilla all winter! I did use a woven cotton fabric; if I had used a knit the 12-24 month size might have fit better. They only took an hour or two to make. They probably would have taken less time but the recipient of said pants kept interrupting me.

Anyway, I did want to say that they fit his cloth diaper butt very well, without alteration. Someone recommended them to me for that reason.
