Antidepressant Withdrawal Symptoms

I meet a lot of people who say that they tried going off their antidepressants, but weren't able to because their depression returned. I just wanted to let people know that the depression could be just a withdrawal symptom from going off the med too quickly and that if you can get through the withdrawal symptoms, you'll be ok. Some Psychiatrists recommend going off it VERY slowly, like cut it down by 1 tenth every two weeks.

Just thought this info may be helpful to some here.

Very, very true.

I went off Zoloft back in August (08/04) and ended up running out with no way to get more right at the beginning of tapering off.

MAJOR rebound depression - fortunately, I recognized for what it was, and just weathered it. It lasted really bad for about a month, then it took maybe another month of me doing my usual mental housekeeping for it to fully disperse. I'm really glad I went through it and got off it - long term use has not been proven safe for persons with bipolar disorder (well, for anyone, but there are suggestions that long term use make the cycles worse).

Thanks for posting this, dingogirl!

I've been reading up on mercury toxicity and depression. They believe having amalgams can cause bi polar disorder, schitzophrenia and psychosis (just to name a few) I'm thinking of having mine slowly removed, then chelating.
