Congrats to all the new mamas! FRM, your birth story is beautiful! I am in awe of women who UC. Rainbow, congrats on your huge baby girl! I bet she's just the snuggliest chubby thing ever!
We're tandem nursing, too, Kyra. I don't care to nurse both kiddos at once - it's just too much for me to sit through. I'm fine with nursing DD when she asks, but she's been asking constantly, and very insistently when DS is nursing. Not fun. She will not be stalled, so for my comfort I sometimes end up handing DS off to DH for a few minutes. I hope it all calms down soon, for you and for us.
I'm glad to hear that those with nursing trouble are sticking it out. It does
get better, trust me. I had some difficulty with DD but it got better after a few weeks. The second time around, it's a piece of cake!
We finally agreed on a name for our little guy - it only took us five days! :LOL So he is now known as Arlo James, and it really does seem to fit him. Don't tell my DH that that's the name that came to me immediately after DS was born... he thinks he had a choice in it!
Is anyone else's baby having poop issues? We've had three good meconium poops and a few skid marks, and then nothing. He hasn't pooped since Saturday and he's not happy about it. He's very gassy, especially at night, and I can tell that it's bothering him. We tried tummy massage, leg bicycling, and taking his temperature rectally last night. None of those helped, but he did eventually go to sleep and slept well for several hours at a stretch (DD never did that!). I sent DH out for glycerin suppositories to try if he still doesn't poop today. I've spoken with my aunt (a nurse and IBCLC) and will talk to my midwife today when she comes to visit, and see if there's anything else I can do. His color is great, he's nursing wonderfully, and peeing like it's going out of style. I can tell that he's getting lots of milk and I'm careful to keep him on one breast until it's thoroughly drained (I had foremilk/hindmilk imbalance with DD), so I think he's just having trouble letting it go. I just want him to be more comfortable! I'd take him into the tub with me but he still has his cord and I don't think that should be submerged, right?
I should get a nap while my kids are out. It's so sweet to see them sacked out next to each other! See?
