I totally agree! And my latch pain is not "mild discomfort" like some nursing books describe. It's YIKES-EEE--OOO for a few seconds until the tissue stretches out. My mw and naturopath says that it's silly to assume that any part of the body that gets sucked on that much will not hurt. As long as the pain goes away, I know Dmitri has a good latch.

You might try a football hold, too, since you can sometimes see what's going on better.
I second the football hold. I use that one for my right side, which proved to be more difficult at first, and a crossover hold for my left. I'd love to master side lying nursing, but I think I need to wait until the baby can control his head better. It also doesn't help that my breasts are small and high so don't really dangle down conveniently. Any side-lying tips would be appreciated!

Seren, glad everything went well at your appointment!

, Kyra. I hope the interview is over now and you are back at home relaxing and destressing with your little ones. A job interview is an awful lot to ask of you right now! Hope you find a special way to reward yourself, even it it's just chocolate.

I haven't read all of the posts here but I wanted to say that we had our baby Leah Katherine on Apr 20 (DUE DATE) and she was 10lbs 12oz , 20 1/2 inches long and her head was 15 1/2 in. I thought she was big but then I skimmed to see that some of you had even bigger babies. Wow. It's amazing to me that this was my biggest baby and the first time with a natural birth and it was by far the best. No tearing, no pain down there at all. My bleeding is almost gone at 9 days PP. Breastfeeding is going pretty well. I wanted to give up earlier in the week but now it seems better. So much pain though!!

Take care

Congratulations, Audrey! Glad your first natural labor went so well. And wow--a due date baby! Today is Dmitri's due date, but he came a week and a day early last Friday.

I hear ya on the breastfeeding. I love it and it hurts! I do notice that I really benefit from the hormone surge at each feeding. I catch myself feeling antsy about when I'll get my next fix when Dmitri has a long sleep. :LOL

breast feeding has always made me sleepy . i can fall asleep when nursing a babe just by sitting there and closing my eyes LOL!

So I'm having some contractions, but they are really close together. Not sure if this is it or not. I hope so!

Had a birthday party for ds this weekend. Lots of guests and very overwhelming. Now ds, dd and I are all sick! yuck, and they called me for a second interview this Thursday, Yuck yuck yuck! I'm so tired! No sleep with a stuffy 3 week old, poor baby
post #269 of 287
Nothing. They stopped after 2.5 hours. 3-5 minutes apart. *sigh*

Seren, sending major contraction vibes your way!

uggh, sorry to hear this! ( hugs) we're all sick here too. i'm feeling like crap, my older two are coughing up their lungs, and the baby has a stuffy nose. it sucks!

for all the sick mommies and families. That must really be no fun.

I definitely agree with those who mentioned BFing pain at the beginning of a feed vs very sharp pain that continues through a feed. Those first few days I did have pain throughout feeds but now it's usually just during the initial period before my milk lets down. If it hurts longer than that I take her off the breast.

Hey everyone :-)

Just wanted to check in with an update:

I had a REALLY rough week of running to the chiropractor, acupuncturist and massage therapist to try to get baby to turn head down. It didn't help that my mother was freaking out. Her energy always messes with me : , but I couldn't avoid her- needed her to drive me to the appointments.

Anywhoo, I don't want to relive all of that- I've been working hard to let it go.

Yesterday, my midwife came over and she (with hubby's help) was able to do an ecv and get baby to turn head down! Yay! Baby had been trying to move (the moxa made baby boogie) but couldn't make the turn past my diaphragm across the middle of my belly.

So, I'm sore today, and a bit paranoid every time I feel baby move lol I know, I need to relax.

I'm heading to the acupuncturist in a few minutes to try to align the energy and get things started. I want to thank everyone for their head-down vibes and ask that if you have a few more vibes to spare, please send us some "_stay_ head down" vibes and some "come on out!" vibes

Thanks again everyone, I hope all are doing well! Seren- I'm rooting for you!

xoxoxoxo

Oh boof, that's such great news

I hope your birth is wonderful, and you can block out your mom's crappy vibes.

Can't stay long, my MIL is on her way for her first visit. All is very well here, Annie now ways 8lb 1 oz (back up past her birth weight) and is doing great! I am feeling well too & eager to start getting some exercise!

boof I'm glad to hear the good news about your baby turning! My little one was breech for sometime and I understand the frustration that goes along with it. Keep your energy positive and I hope you have a great labor

I have been in a state of bliss these past 11 days. I can't imagine things being any easier. Baby Keira sleeps and nurses so well. She's so mellow! Maybe things are just easier with #2 because I have a better idea of what to expect and do. I also love that I'm so mellow with her.

Tomorrow is our first day all alone together. Daddy's going to work and dd#1 is going to school for a full day. I'll miss them both, but look forward to having the house to me (and baby) again

What is it with being sick? I'm never, ever sick, but I have a sinus infection. Thankfully, Dmitri is well and I'm on the mend. Sending healing thoughts to all those stuffy, sick families out there!

Seren, I'm so happy that the baby turned! I'm focusing on "stay there" and "let's get going" thoughts for you and baby.

Love the new name, Jesse! I'm glad that Annie's weight is great, too. Dmitri goes in for his two-week with the naturopath (who was also our midwife) on Thursday, so I'll be curious to see how much he weighs. I'm thinking he's just GOT to be bigger after his four-hour feed last night! :LOL

Headymama, it's day 12 here for us, and I'm now blissed out on how mellow our little one is, too. It's so nice to see all the attention we're paying to his cues really paying off. I can see that he's much more relaxed and trusting with us now. I'm flying solo for the first time on Friday, when Joe goes back to work. It's nice that I only have to try it for one day before the weekend, as I'm a little nervous about it.

Just got back from the midwife. Still a one, 50% effaced. Trying to be patient here.

Yeah, I was hoping to have some baby news. Maybe soon. Trying the patience thing. I have always said that patience is not a virtue I posses. :LOL

to you Seren
I actually had a dream last night that I was waiting to go into labour --again! And it reminded me how hard the whole waiting thing is. Hope you meet your little girl very soon!
