My favourite toy store, Treasure Island Toys in Toronto, finally imported some play silks! I have not seen them in Canada before, but always wanted to mail order some. So while I was there shopping for a prezzie for my son's 7th birthday party this afternoon, I picked up two scaves, and one long rainbow runner! It is so beautiful.
I showed it to the kids and my daughter, 5, was enchanted. My son, almost 7, protested that he didn't know what it "did". He asked if it came with instructions! So we brainstormed it and came up with several ideas. When we got home we played on the grass with it like a parachute. This morning a smaller one was a lizard-king cape.
I feel like we brought him from the edge of un-imagination! We have kept him pretty sheltered from yucky stuff (he says Lion King is too violent) but I wonder what things the party will bring for the first time (like Bionicles, etc).
