Quoting Others

This is the only place I can think of to post this. It is a suggestion.

Please, please when you quote people include the person's name. I was just reading a thread and people were quoted all over the place, but the quotes did not include the writers name. Hurts my brain. PLEASE include if you do not already.

How do you do that now? Just include it when you hit the little quote button? I use quick reply almost exclusively now, and it doesn't do it automatically, does it?

I agree, it does get confusing without knowing who said what.

I just quoted you (and your name) by hitting the quote button on the right hand corner of your post. If you hold your cursor over it it will say, "Reply w/Quote." That button does it automatically.

I think where it goes wrong in the quote buttons in the quick reply, they do no put the persons name in the quote.

Anybody could have said that. I think it gets very confusing if it's a long thread.

Anyway, I am completely guilty of this and will try to be better

But, you can also do a cut and paste into the quick reply, use the quote button on it, and add "=whoever" after the first "[QUOTE" and leave that "]" at the end...

And that way you can quote mulitple people with the quick reply.

This is my test run. How do you use multiple quotes in a reply?

What do you mean by "misquote"? You mean like changing the user name in the quotey thingie? Or do you mean changing what somebody quoted or giving the wrong name to the quote?

If you can quote one person you can quote them all. You'll just have to type out the [ quote = whoever ] (w/no spaces) and end with [/quote]

You can quote as many people as you like then.

See? I hope that made sense. Just use the quote format but after the = write the person's name. You can also copy and paste so you'll have the quote format but just enter the different person's name (and quote). It's late so sorry if that didn't make sense.
