While staying at home with my dd, I've taken up a new "hobby"... moderating an online chat for moms. I'm really excited about my next guest, who will be on the chat next Monday (see announcement below). If you'd like to join in, it is easier if you register a screenname and password at the chat site ahead of time or get there a little early before the chat to do it. To do so, go to http://www.mommychats.com/chat.htm and near the bottom you will see the "register" box to the right under purple user name and password. Enter the name and password you would like and click on register. Chatting is really easy-you will be able to figure it out the first time you try!
On Monday April 11, 10 am pacific, 11 am mountain, 12 noon central and 1 pm eastern, I will have a very special guest on the Emotional Lives of Children Chat:
David Stein, Ph.D. psychologist and author of Unraveling the ADD/ADHD Fiasco,
Ritalin is Not the Answer: A drug free practical guide for children diagnosed with ADD and ADHD,
and Stop Medicating, Start Parenting: Real Solutions for your Problem Teenager!
Dr. Stein has also published journal articles on the subject of rampage school shootings and the possible role of psychiatric medications (SSRI's) in triggering this type of impulsive, violent behavior. Many people aren't aware that dosage changes in SSRI's can cause both suicidal and homicidal behavior-and that both Eric Harris (Columbine) and Jeff Weise (Red Lake) were taking Prozac.
Dr. Stein will be chatting with us for an hour in "The Meeting Place" on www.mommychats.com.
Spread the word and bring your questions!
