i know it's not a "crunchy" craft, but it's all i'm really good at (link in my sig if you want to see some of my stuff). i'm searching the web for non-toxic, child-safe varnishes so i can make stringing beads for my daughter when she's older. anyone know of a child-safe varnish? like, what do they use on the wooden beads in nursing necklaces? or the stringing-bead sets like Haba's? i basically want to make her beads that are round but shaped like cute lil animals, like a ladybug and a frog, etc. i like polymer clay because i can also get special effects, like i can do a photo transfer and have pictures under a layer of translucent clay, so she could have an ABC bead set with pics to match the letters (apples, bear, etc.).
anyway, any other polyclayers out there?
