He said yes!

Pregnant with #3. Two natural births under my belt. Was hoping for a homebirth this time but unsure how dh would respond to that idea. With the first one (in hospital!) I had to talk him into a midwife instead of a doc! Then second one I had to talk him into a freestanding birth center instead of the hospital. He is wonderful - the most supportive guy - but still I worried that he would just not be comfortable with homebirth. And how could I be completely comfortable if he is scared to death? But he is fine with it! I am pretty psyched! Using one of the same midwives we had with dd2 - other one retired. My friends already think I am way out there that we don't use docs or hospitals (after the first time - which was fine). They will be fainting in the aisles at this news but hey, it is up to me to educate the masses, huh?

good news Kirsten, I'm really glad for you! I am planning a homebirth too & just found our midwife.
My DH is totally following my lead with where we birth & how, and I am really grateful he is not being closed minded, but sometimes he is so passive about it all I feel like a single parent. When he does have an opinion about something (like a name he likes or dislikes) or acts supportive (like asking have I had my 64 ounces of water), I just eat it up! I think he will rev up more as we get further along, right now I have him busy sidestepping my hormones!

This is our 1st & he is really the "squeamish" type. Everything will be really foreign to him. I am working hard to let him process things as they happen, and I will have to let him "prepare" in his own way. Before we had the midwife over we had a little talk & I got over excited & mentioned lotus birth- not a concept that he is mentally prepared for! I have to remember to go slow with him Sometimes I worry that he will bug out & not fulfill my "homebirth-dad-stereotype" then I have to just throw that out the window & remember that he will do his own amazing thing just like he always does.

again, congrats that you will be having the homebirth you want,
blessings, maria

I really appreciate my dh even more after reading these posts. Thank G-d my four were born at home.

It even makes me miss my own Father even more since he delivered me and my sibs at home.
