Waldorf at home

Hi all! We've decided to send my extremely extroverted DD, who will be 5, to school 9 hours a week this fall. It's not a Waldorf school and I'm hoping to implement some Waldorf type rhythms at home to sort of keep her from going fully into her head at such a young age. Does anyone have any good books/cirriculums/etc. to recommend for Waldorf at home? I don't need it to include any sort of academics.

TIA for any advice.

I would love to send him to Waldorf school in our town....$900 a month for him.
OUCH!!!!

So, I, too....would love to read any ideas some of you have.

Seven Times the Sun by Shea Darian for rhythms of the day/week. (Hope I have the author's name spelled right...not sure where my copy is.)

All Year Round by Ann Druitt for rhythms of the year.

Homeschool ideas that include curriculum, go to www.christopherushomeschool.org Donna Simmons has the best books available on homeschooling Waldorf. She went to Waldorf school herself, she taught in a Waldorf school, she homeschools her 2 kids. She will not have you doing Waldorf-school-at-home; instead, she helps you see how your homeschool can incorporate Steiner's vision. She also runs a yahoo group called Waldorf at Home...I'm pretty sure there's a link to it from her website.

You might pick up some good ideas on keeping a Waldorf home while sending a child to school from the yahoo group. I'm pretty sure that's been a topic of discussion in the past few months.

Did you ever read You Are Your Child's First Teacher? This is one that you should be able to get at the library.

I love Oak Meadow's Heart of Learning and The Process Manual. Those two books are more than education. They are helpful parenting tools as well.

ITA about all of these suggestions and also second whomever suggested Seven Times the Sun. I also have Free To Learn: Introducting Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Education by Lynne Oldfield. It's not a homeschooling book but it's really inspiring and helped me get the "feel" for Waldorf, kwim? A Child's Seasonal Treasury by Betty Jones is nice also. It's divided into seasons and has different songs, fingerplays, poems, and recipes for each season.
