Sex Predictions!

Ok, do you think it would be fun to predict the sex of our baby so later on we can see how many of us were right?

I'm trying not to vomit while DS and DD are hanging out here. So, this will take my mind off of things. Ok...


1. What do you or your DP think you'll have?
2. When will you find out?

I think I'm having a boy... but I'm not the best guesser. I only say boy, because my DH is usually right and he says twin boys.

(Ug, I hate that he thinks it's twins. Ug. Just a refresher, poeple, no one actually has twins! We all THINK we might have twins. But no one actually does. Twins are merely mythical and do not exist. I swear EVERY pregnancy something out there convinces people I'm having twins, and I never have! :P There, I've said my piece. )

We'll find out when on his or her birthday.

I think it's a girl (which surprises me, because I thought in the past I'd have boys). I also "knew" DS was a boy. I will also find out on her birthday if I am right.

With DS we also did not find out. However, when the ultrasound tech said, "are you sure you don't want to know? This one's really easy..." we kind of figured we were right with the boy thing...

Aw! I can't believe the tech said that!!! What a give away!

With my DS I KNEW he was a boy. With my DD I NEW she was a boy. I think maybe I just stick with boy because it's all I can guess! :LOL

Dh and mil both have funny feelings it will be a girl. Before I was pregnant I always said I think my first will be a girl. But I keep calling the baby "he" absentmindedly. And I'm usually very conscious of using "he" in place of a gender-neutral designation in all situations. I've called the baby "he" about 5 times now. Do you think this means anything?

ETA: We won't find out until baby's birthday. We're not planning on having an ultrasound unless it's absolutely necessary.

With DD, I knew all along the she was a "she". The ultrasound at 19 weeks was very clear on that point, with all girl parts showing up clearly.

DH kinda wants a boy, but know what it was like for his parents to raise him, we're having a relatively easy time with Karen, so he's thinking he wants another girl. :LOL Great logic, DH. DH has been refering to the baby as a "she" so I guess on some level he thinks it's a girl.

I can go either way. I have no sense about this one at all. According to the one predictor I looked at, it says boy.

We haven't talked about whether or not to have a mid-pregnancy ultrasound, nor have we talked about finding out the gender at that point.

I think its another girl, but I kind of want another girl, because they will be so close in age. DH wants a boy but even he keeps saying she or her when referring to the new baby. At first he said he didn't want to find out what the sex is, and I don't care either way, but now he says he does because he doesn't want to get used to a girl and have it be a boy....that was his excuse last time, too!! If we do get an ultrasound to determine sex, I want a 4-D!! They are so cool!

Actually, our ultrasound tech said something similar as well. DD was just in there with her legs wide open, and the us tech said that it was the easiest "girl" she'd ever seen.

For my both my sister's girls, the u/s tech gave her 60% girl on each. Wowee. Big help. :LOL

I am thinking this one is a boy, but I would love another girl. Every little boy I know is so mean and hyper. Maybe it is just the boys around here? Julia is just so easy going and just so darn sweet. Maybe if we have a little boy he will be on the sweet side too...do you think we could get that lucky?

I would really like to wait until birth to find out the sex, but I am soooo bad about waiting. We were going to find out with Julia, then we couldn't at the ultrasound, so I decided to wait until she was born. But when I had to have another ultrasound, I jumped at the chance to find out the sex. DH could go either way with it.

Well, my DS is the sweetest, most adorable little honey on the planet. He loves to cuddle and read and tells me he loves me and that he's proud of me all the time. I really really do think having a boy is fantabulous.

Of course, he also likes to go down too-tall slides, play in the mud, run around like a fiend, and hit baseballs...

So, no mean in him at all, perhaps a tad hyper, but nothing that a half hour at the park can't cure!

That is so good to hear! Julia is quite fearless so I'm used to the too tall slides and climbing like a monkey

i can't tell what i *think* it is vs. what i *want* it to be. of course, i want it to be happy and healthy. but i also want a girl. i wanted to have a boy first, which i did, and then a girl....sooo...here i am!

also some backstory: on DH's Father's side, there are no girls that are not married in. none for a few generations and his mom is the only girl on her side that wasn't married in. on my side, it's the opposite...they're all girls.

some more freaky backstory: for the past 5 generations, every woman in my maternal line (mom, gmom, g-gmom, etc) has had their first daughter just shy of turning 30. i have always wanted to continue that legacy but my 30th bday is 12/7 of this year. so i figured i couldn't fulfill the prophecy, so to speak...but here i am pregnant with my due date being somewhere between 12/3 and 12/7...so that's another reason why i think this is gonna be my first girl.

sooooo....it's probably a boy. LMAO! DH won't even consider the possibility that it's a girl. he just KNOWS it's a boy. part of me just wants to prove him wrong!!! HAHA

Really want to know? I think when you have a son your definition and your judgment of "mean and hyper" changes drastically. When my son was 1-2.5 was he full of energy? Explorative? Never sit still? Never listen? Not konw what NO! meant? Did he throw anything he could pick up? Did he hit/kick/punch? Did he steal toys? Did he run away from me if I called his name? Did little girls and thier mother's look on in horror? YES. YES YES YES! And, he was gloriously normal! When you have a son, your definition of these things change (or else you end up not enjoying your child much!). You may want to change how you look at boys so that if you do have a boy, you can replace "mean and hyper" with "exploratory and energetic" or some other words that are more positive. You probably didn't really have so much to do with making your daughter "sweet", just like those moms didn't make their sons "mean and hyper." So much of it is the way that our boys and girls are wired.

I should note, of course I believe in the social aspects of personality and their effects on toddlerhood, but I think it's important to acknowlege the biological as well.

Oh, Julia... I think we're all in for a wild ride! :LOL I hope I wasn't too harsh in that post. Part of it is my baggage, because my son was called wild and hyper... by parents of girls or parents who had grown kids. All I was trying to say was that, yes, boys are just much different than girls on many levels. But, their still your baby, your child, your kid. You still love them. And, boys while they're different, give a much different kind of love to their parents and siblings. When an energetic muddy boy comes up to you to give you a big wet dirty kiss after reaking havoac on the playground, that kiss is just as golden and a neat sweet little girl kiss.

And... it's SO SO SO nice to have a sweet little girl too. OMG! She's so sweet! Even as active as she is... she's nothing like her brother was! She sits to read books and doesn't throw unless playing a game. Ahhh. Girls.

Oh, I didn't think you were harsh at all. It is really nice to get some insight from the other side. Passionate, yes, but not harsh!

I checked the library and they have all three books so I'm going to get started. Hopefully they will calm my fears a little!

I can understand how it would be frustrating having people tell you that your son is wild and hyper, without seeing the whole picture of who your son really is.

Oh, thanks. I know I've been getting carried away lately. It REALLY is a pregnancy thing!!! And, sometimes it's hard to tell how it comes across in type instead of smiling face to smiling face.

Cool that your library has all three. Each of them has a little different perspective. And, you might actually want one that focuses on younger boys. And... you might just end up with two daughters, but the information will probably be quite valuable when dealing with boys.

I think it's a boy but I'd rather have another girl.

We'll find out around December 1st give or take a few weeks.

Well I have 2 girls (thought they were both going to be boys ) so now I am guessing girl. Dh and my whole family (including my mom who says she is never wrong ) guesses boy. We'll see...probably by ultrasound but not sure yet.
