We do family movie night every couple of weeks. Tonight we rented a live action film of "Paddle to the Sea"- the kids loved it. 1/2 hour long, very nice and informative with a story line!

I'm not familiar with the story. What's the basic plot?

A little boy who lives in Canada carves a wooden canoe and sets it on top of a snowy mountain. The snow thaws and the story follows the canoes travels (and adventures) to the sea. On the bottom of the canoe it says "Paddle to the Sea" and "Please Return to the Water".

Oh my gosh -- when was that movie made? Could it have been as long ago as the 70's or early 80's? If so, I think I saw it in school! I have this vague memory of it after reading your post, but I had pretty much forgotten all about it until now! I do remember it being a very nice movie, if it's the same one...

yeah, it was definitely an oldie but goodie- an old film transfered to VHS- you could still see the film "crackles". My kids really loved it!

I'll put that on my list. Trying to think if I have something in English worth sharing...the Masters of Russian Animation is superb! There are only a few films with dialog or narrative (subtitles); the rest have only music.
