How much yarn for a doll wig?

How much yarn do I need for a long-haired soft doll wig? Like for example, around a 16" mermaid style doll with long hair?

TIA

Lisa, you caught me asking No offense intended, you know!

But you said 80 yards and then sounded like you weren't sure if that was right or not. I couldn't find any doll info/instructions that had amount of hair in it on the web. So I was hoping for somebody else who makes dolls to chime in here for a second opinion.

I'm thinking if the finished mermaid has hair that's say 1 foot long, 80 yards would be 120 strands that are 2 feet long to sew down the center into a wig, right?

OK...I just checked dd's little blossom doll I made (an 8" dolly). It has 68 strands about 10" long, which works out to about 20 yards.

Now that I see her, I realize a bigger mermaid will have much longer than foot long hair, so 80 yards sounds right, unless you come up with something else.

Back to the spinning wheel...haha! I did some more today. Honestly, I've made so little yarn that I have absolutely no clue how much I've made, except to say that I'm sure I've already got more than 80 yards. I need to figure out how to guestimate what I've got. It's not as chunky as I would like, but I tried to make it a bit thick and thin so it's interesting.
